This Sunday, 16 members of Trinity will be putting aside their blades and trading them in for their trainers. Don’t worry, rowing, as with most things in TCBC, is still very much at the centre of this event. These members will be taking on the mammoth task of a 13.1-mile run in an effort to raise money for the future generations of Trinity College rowers.

At Oxford, we are immensely privileged to have access to such a historically inaccessible sport. With the cost of living on the rise, we are trying to keep subs low and the door open to as many members of college as possible. The funds raised through this event will help the club to cover its running costs without increasing costs for members. Donations of any size are welcome and would contribute towards covering the following:

£5 would pay for a rigger jigger, these tools allow us to transport our boats meaning we are able to compete in regattas outside of Oxford
£20 would cover an additional coached training session, either for our senior or novice crews. More time on the water means more watts!
£30 would pay for an hour in the tank which is vital for training up the next generation of TCBC rowers
£60 would cover the cost of a pair of new shoes in our small boats, which desperately need upgrading
£100 would mean the club could invest in a steering footplate so we can rig our double as both a pair and as a double, giving new use to existing equipment.
£500 allows for a GPS stroke coach, giving stroke seat feedback throughout training and races allowing for more
£1000 would be able to cover a massive equipment upgrade, for example, the cost of a Cox Orb and an impeller system making training sessions more efficient.

Everyone should be able to partake in the sport, feel the magic of the termly regattas, and the friendships found on a Michaelmas morning, and we need your help to secure future financial stability for TCBC.

📣 TCBC is running the Oxford Half Marathon !! 📣

This October 15th, 16 members of TCBC will be putting aside their blades and trading them in for their trainers. These members will be taking on the mammoth task of a 13.1-mile run in an effort to raise money for the future generations of TCBC rowers.

At Oxford, we are immensely privileged to have access to such a historically inaccessible sport. With the cost of living on the rise, we are trying to keep subs low and the door open to as many people as possible. The funds raised through this event will help the club to cover its running costs from coaching to equipment, as well as to contribute towards the costs of entering competitions and holding training camps. The marathon in aid of FRBC’s junior bursary, due to take place tomorrow, has unfortunately had to be postponed owing to conditions at the locks. We’re hoping to reschedule towards the end of this term, when with any luck we’ll have some lovely sunny weather! We’ll keep updates coming about developments, and thank you to everyone who has so kindly donated already! 💙💛

On 29th April, members of TCBC will be rowing from Wallingford to Boathouse Island in two boats (one Trinity, and one composite with Wadham), to raise money for Fulham Reach’s Junior Bursary project. This charity enables secondary students to become FRBC members and have access to their equipment, who wouldn’t normally have the financial resources to do so.

We are aiming to raise £1,200 for this cause, which will offer a year’s bursary to a young person in London.

On Saturday, TCBC entered a composite boat into Women’s Eights Head of the River. Our crew managed to overtake the boat in front within the first third of this almost 7km course, and our overall time made us the WINNERS of our division! Massive congratulations ladies, this is an enormous achievement! 🏅🏅🏅Thank you to Maddie (B), Sarah (2), Tereza (3), and our cox David from LMH. Thanks also to super seven seat Chloe from Exeter.

Well done to captain Grace as well, who competed in this race in an oxford lightweights boat!

TCBC smashed Quintin Head yesterday, with the men coming 3rd in their division, and the women coming 5th! This was the club’s first external regatta, and it’s fair to say that TCBC has put their name out there as a force to be reckoned with. Bring on Torpids in three weeks!

Our BBQ rowing taster on Saturday saw a fantastic turn-out, as a fresh wave of novices tried out the Isis for the first time. We can’t wait to see how this new talent will develop over the coming months!

Whatever your level of experience, it’s not too late to get involved by emailing one of our captains, and putting your name down for an outing or two.

Thank you to Ian Wallman for the photos.

Looking forward to seeing as many freshers as possible at our rowing bbq taster on Saturday! Burgers and banter are free - no rowing experience needed, but please avoid baggy clothes if you’re planning on giving the boats a try!
