We run fantastic, fun baby swimming classes and toddler swimming classes across Oxfordshire. We have baby and toddler swimming lessons in Milton, Abingdon, Boars Hill and Goring Heath (RG8). You and your little one really will have fun, learn loads of swimming and water safety skills and improve their confidence in water!

⭐️🌟 STAR OF THE WEEK — CALEB! 🌟⭐️
(w/e 13th September)

This week’s Star of the Week is the wonderful Caleb! 🥰🏊‍♂️💙

When Caleb first started swimming with us, he was very unsure of the water. But with lots of gentle encouragement and perseverance from Dad, he has continued to come along each week and slowly build his confidence. 💙

I could see Caleb’s confidence growing throughout last term, but this term has been something really special. He has been arriving at his lessons with a beaming smile, ready to give it his all, and it has been so lovely to see! 🥹✨

This week, Caleb achieved something HUGE… he managed some solo swimming on his noodle! 🏊‍♂️🎉 What a fantastic achievement and such a big step forward for him!

Caleb, I am so incredibly proud of your bravery, your perseverance and, most importantly, for trusting me to help you. 🥰 You have worked so hard and you absolutely deserve your Star of the Week! ⭐️

I can’t wait to give you your certificate at your next lesson! 🌟

🎉🏆 WE’RE FINALISTS!!! 🏆🎉

I genuinely don’t even know where to start… 🥹💗

Today we received the most amazing news that SwimKidz Oxfordshire has made it through to the FINALS of the prestigious What’s On 4 Kids Awards! 🦈💦✨

🏆 Most Loved Sport or Physical Activity

And honestly… this one means SO much.

This is the FIRST EVER time we have entered the What’s On 4 Kids Awards, so to have entered for the first time and already make it through to the finals is something I am incredibly proud of. 🥹💗

And to top it all off, the What’s On 4 Kids Awards are celebrating their 20th anniversary this year! 🎉 So what an incredible year to be part of it.

These awards are particularly special because the first stage is decided by the families who actually attend and experience the activities being nominated. So knowing that our wonderful SwimKidz Oxfordshire families took the time to vote for us honestly means more than I can put into words. 🥹

For me, SwimKidz has never just been about teaching children to swim. It’s also about creating a safe, happy and encouraging environment where children can learn, grow, gain confidence and make memories and hopefully leave every lesson with a big smile on their face. 🥰🦈💦

So to everyone who voted for us…

🌟🦈 STAR OF THE WEEK — ZANDER! 🦈🌟

What an amazing first week back for our swimmers! 💙

Everyone has been absolutely fantastic in their first week of the Autumn Term, but this week’s Star of the Week is very deservedly… ZANDER! ⭐️👏

Teacher Fay has said:

💙 “Zander has come such a long way from when he first started with us and on Sunday he swam his first independent swim with no assistance from us and no noodle! His confidence and bravery to do this was phenomenal.” 💙

What an incredible achievement, Zander! 🥹👏🏊‍♂️

Watching our swimmers grow in confidence and achieve things they once thought they couldn’t is exactly why we love what we do. 💙

Well done, Zander! Keep swimming, keep believing and keep being amazing! 💙👏

Appreciation post – Katie 💙

(I had drafted this post at the end of last term and somehow never scheduled it to be shared 😩 But it’s one that really needs to be, so here it is… 🥹)

A lot of you will have met Katie over the years, as she first started working for SwimKidz Oxfordshire back in 2018!

Alongside her previous full time accounting job, Katie loved teaching children. She was, and still is, an incredibly knowledgeable, kind and caring teacher. ❤️

Eventually, teaching alongside a full time career physically became too much and Katie had to step away. But whenever we needed help, she came back. More recently, she jetted off travelling, but throughout it all she has always been at the end of the phone and has never hesitated to come back and help when the team and I have needed her, whenever she could alongside her full time work commitments.

When the business reopened after 18 months of Covid closures, my daughter had been born just three days before and I was facing one of the most challenging times of my life. Just two months later, Katie came back to help. 🥹

And more recently, during this term, when Fay was rushed off for emergency surgery, Katie returned with very little notice to support us. She travelled to London to renew her Lifesavers qualification, stepped straight back in and was like she had never left. 💙

Katie, I am so incredibly grateful that our paths crossed. You have supported me, the team and our swimmers through some really difficult times, and I will never forget that.

Although you’re not able to teach with us anymore (you know I will still try and steal you for the odd occasion if I can 😉) You will always be a very special part of the SwimKidz Oxfordshire family.

Thank you for everything, Katie. 💙🦈

Some people leave a lasting impact long after they stop being part of the day to day, and Katie is definitely one of those people. ❤️

Sometimes we get messages that remind us exactly why we do what we do. 🥹❤️

I received this message during the current summer break, and it really stopped me in my tracks.

Over the years, we’ve had so many of our swimmers (and their parents!) tell us about moments when they’ve remembered and used the skills they’ve learned in their SwimKidz lessons in a real life situation.

And this is exactly why we practise things again… and again… and again.

I know sometimes some of what we teach can look repetitive. Treading water, floating, getting to the side, staying calm… you might wonder why we keep going over them.

But there is a reason.

We want these skills to become second nature. So that if a child ever finds themselves in a situation where they need them, they don’t have to stop and think about what to do. Their swimming knowledge and water safety skills can take over.

This message from Zach’s mum is a perfect example of that. ❤️

“Hiya Tara, I just wanted to message you and let you know what happened today with Zach. We have a local lake where we live and you can fish on it, Zach for the first time ever fell in and couldn’t touch the bottom. He didn’t panic at all and treaded water fully clothed and shoes on and managed to get himself to the side and hold on for Dave to pull him out, I asked him if he was frightened and he said no I knew what to do because of swimming. I just wanted to let you know that swim kidz quite literally kept him calm and most defiantly stopped him from drowning even though he was quite close to the side he still couldn’t touch the bottom. Swim kidz is most definitely worth every penny in that moment and he got out totally unfazed about what happened xx”

Reading that Zach knew what to do, stayed calm, treaded water fully clothed and with shoes on, and got himself safely to the side is exactly what water safety education is about.

We obviously never want our swimmers to have to use these skills in a real emergency, but knowing that they could is one of the most important things we can give them.

Swimming isn't just about swimming lengths or learning strokes.
It’s about confidence, awareness, water safety and giving children the skills they may one day need to keep themselves safe. 🩵
