Wishing the very best of luck to all paddlers tackling the DW challenge this weekend.
The Devizes to Westminster International Canoe Race is a truly unique event, pushing competitors to their limits over a demanding 125-mile course that includes 77 portages. Starting in Devizes, Wiltshire, the race sees Senior Doubles crews finish at Westminster Bridge in central London, right opposite the Houses of Parliament.
This year, several Falcon members are taking part. You can follow their progress and find more information by using the tracking links available on the official website. https://www.dwrace.co.uk/

Falcon were delighted to join up with friends at GoodGym in support of the OxClean Spring Litter Pick. This team effort never ceases to amaze. Despite the river still flowing fast and constraining most of the litter pick to land, there was a very impressive haul. Many thanks to all those who helped to make our stretch of river a better place for everyone.
Pegs, pagans and plogging - GoodGym Oxford
Every year we team up with Falcon Canoe Club for a spring litter pick during OxClean weeks. This year we couldn't get out on the water because the river is still very high and fast after the soggy winter we've just endured, so we set off to clear the areas along the river bank…

Many congratulations to Brynde and Joe on taking the record for the fastest paddle of the Thames

What started as a plan for mulled wine and mince pies after rowing and paddling sessions quickly turned into something a little different, due to flood alerts and strong river flow: and so the Falcon Gauntlet Games was born.
Six teams competed in a festive paddle-and–mince-pie twist on the egg and spoon race, a fiercely competitive 500m row on the indoor rowing machines, and a fast and furious circuit session — all expertly organised by Siobhan Frank.
With thanks to Sandra and team in The Falcon Café for providing mince pies, mulled wine and other festive refreshments to keep everyone fuelled.
Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! 🎄✨

A really enjoyable afternoon on the towpath 🌿
Members of Falcon, alongside others from the rowing community including OURCS, Accies and City of Oxford Rowing Club, spent the afternoon clearing the towpath from Donnington Bridge to Boathouse Island.
With support from Jenks Oxford, Tree Surgeons, 55 volunteers, including MP Anneliese Dodds, helped clear overgrown brush, improving access along a stretch of path used daily by so many people.
Afterwards, we were pleased to welcome everyone back to Falcon for hot chocolate, tea, coffee and some Christmas treats. The café is volunteer run and, with support from Falcon Kayakers, we were able to offer free drinks and snacks as a thank you to everyone who supported the day.
Many thanks to everyone who gave their time and effort to help look after this shared space 🚣♀️

Ross Warland records broken
37 Falcon paddlers raced in the Ross Warland event at Banbury last weekend. This is a 20 mile race on the canal, that can be completed straight through or as a relay. It was great to see so many Falcon paddlers out there. There were some stunning results, and some pretty tired bodies at the end! I think we enjoyed ourselves really…
In the K1s, Brynde and Frankie won and broke the existing records in the senior and junior women’s K1 classes respectively🎉.
Sam won the junior men’s class (2nd overall K1) and EDIT: equalled the record junior men K1. Tom won the veteran men category and was also incredibly close to the record (13 seconds).
Rebecca (racing for Newbury with her partner Anja) broke the veteran ladies’ record despite 2 swims.
Congratulations to everyone who raced! Go Falcon!
