Sedlescombe Tournament – Our Final Tournament of the Season
What a way to finish the season. ☀️
On a hot Sunday afternoon, the young Irons travelled to Sedlescombe for their final tournament of the summer. The team arrived full of smiles (perhaps helped by England’s win the night before!) and ready to play their football.
From the very first whistle, the difference from the previous weekend was clear. The attitude, energy and desire were there for everyone to see. Every player worked tirelessly for one another, supported each other and played with confidence and purpose.
Drawn in a large group against some very strong opposition, the Irons more than held their own, finishing with 3 wins, 2 draws and 2 losses, narrowly missing out on qualification.
But yesterday wasn’t about the final standings. It was about the football this team played, the commitment they showed and the enjoyment they brought back onto the pitch. They played with freedom, trusted each other and showed exactly why this group is so special. Every player contributed, every player encouraged one another, and every player left everything out on the pitch.
The coaches couldn’t have been prouder. The effort, teamwork, determination and sportsmanship shown throughout the afternoon were outstanding, and the support from the sidelines made it an even more enjoyable day.
Sometimes football isn’t measured by medals or trophies. Sometimes it’s measured by the smiles, the togetherness and the pride you feel watching a team play for one another. Yesterday was one of those days.
What a fantastic way to end the season. We couldn’t be prouder of every single player. 🧡🖤⚽️
