Padstow have two crews competing, in races 16 and 17 of the first heat. They have been hitting the training hard all season and are ready to go - smash it girls 💪🏼

With the countdown on for Newquay Championships, our crews headed down the coast to get some race practice on the famous triangle course. 🏁

Thanks to NRC Newquay Gig Club Rowing for letting us have a play on your training ground, and also for loaning Lady Jane for the evening. See you on the water next week for the Ladies Championships!

Martin rowed for Padstow in the first ever Scillies World Championships; Paul has been a long standing member and is an ex-Chairman; and Tom was a talented junior rower, winning the Junior Championships.

Hopefully see you all on the water again soon!

What a perfect day for Fowey Gig Club Regatta yesterday. The racing event that we absolutely love and marginally dread (if you know, you know) every year.

The racing was long and hot. Our crews fought furiously with great results as proof of how hard we have all been hitting the training. 💪🏻

Special mention to our juniors who absolutely smashed their race. It was the first race they have done with marks and they absolutely bossed it. 🎉

This season’s Doom Bar challenge has officially finished, and the results are in!

Doom Bar races are held throughout the season in honour of Major Hugo White, a stalwart of the club who loved this series of club racing. The Doom Bars represent what Hugo summarised as the club’s ethos: Fun, Friendship, and Comradeship.

This year we had a total of 33 club members compete, alongside guest appearances from members of Rock Rowing Club and Port Isaac Rowing Club.

After plenty of close racing, the odd clash and valiant efforts to empty the beer fridge, a clear winner emerged. Congratulations to Bonnie, winner of the 2026 ‘Major Hugo White Memorial Doom Bar Challenge’! 🏆

The 2nd Annual Richard Bobek Memorial Trophy 🔥

A brilliant afternoon at the gig shed celebrating the life of Richard Bobek, with the rowing, firefighting and local community coming together to support Fire Fighters Charity.

Congratulations to the crew of Corsair who won this year’s race - Matt, Lynsey, Kat, Roddy, Steve & Sheelagh from Port Isaac Rowing Club, and John from Rock Rowing Club. 🏆

Huge thanks to the St Dennis Ukulele Club Band for providing the afternoon’s land-based entertainment. Thanks also to Man Down, Sunrise and Callestick Farm Ice Cream for your support of this event. A massive shoutout as well to our very own team of bakers for providing the sweet treats!

Saturday was spent at sunny Carlyon Bay for Charlestown Regatta, with Padstow crews taking to the water and earning some fantastic results.

Special shoutout to our juniors Lerryn, Jack and Hugh, who raced brilliantly in choppy conditions. Jack stepped in with the Fowey U14s, Hugh raced with Cotehele Quay U14s, and both Lerryn and Jack rowed in the Mixed race alongside their respective parents Morwenna and Jason. 💪🏼

Our Ladies B crew have been on a winning streak lately, bringing home yet another trophy for winning their race!

Preparation for the Richard Bobek Memorial Trophy event is well underway, and we can’t wait to see everyone there!

Join us on Sunday 9th August from 2pm at the Red Brick Building. You can expect:

🚣🏻‍♀️ Racing involving crew members from Padstow Rowing Club, Port Isaac Rowing Club, Rock Rowing Club, and local firefighters willing to jump in the hot seat!
🍰 Homemade cakes
🍹 Pimm’s and other drinks
🍦 Callestick Farm Ice Cream
🎶 Live music from St Dennis Ukulele Club Band

All money raised will go towards supporting the club and Fire Fighters Charity.
