Gleniffer Thistle FC are pleased to share that we are exploring plans to submit a request for a Community Asset Transfer of The Marshes (Lochfield Road) Playing Fields.
Our club has been frequent users of The Marshes for many years, and over the past 18 months we’ve continued to deliver regular football activity there under a licence to occupy from OneRen. We see huge potential in the site, and an opportunity to create something really positive for the whole community.
Our vision is to:
- Improve the quality of the pitches
- Develop modern, useable changing facilities
- Increase opportunities for all ages and abilities
- Support the growth of girls’ and women’s football
- Create a safe, well-managed space for community use
Across Renfrewshire, there is a clear shortage of modern, accessible football facilities that meet the needs of growing communities, particularly for children and young people, girls’ and women’s football, and wider community use. We believe there is an opportunity to help address that challenge at The Marshes by improving and safeguarding this important local asset for future generations. Our ambition is not simply to improve facilities for today, but to help secure a sustainable, well-managed space that can support participation, health and opportunity for years to come.
Our proposals are still at an early stage, and it’s important that local people help shape what happens next.
