PAISLEY VICTORIA BOWLING CLUB, was founded in 1859 by a group of local
workers. It cost 2d for the privilege of playing bowls or 1d
to spectator.

These gentlemen were keen bowlers who up until this point, played
their bowls on a private bowling green owned by a Mr William Bowie. This
green was situated at Oakshaw on land that was to become the John Neilston
school. Later these men moved to another green owned by Mr Bowie which was
... situated in Lady Lane. We should be eternally grateful to these gentlemen who, as I have already
mentioned

Getting to the tail end of the season. Final push with the Paisley and District Champion of Champions on Saturday morning.

Unfortunately the Pairs fell short at Prelim against Kilbarchan.

Good luck to all the players and hopefully many going back out at 2pm in afternoon session.

Friday night sees another 2 finals to be played what what both will prove to be excellent games.

Massive congratulations to Alex Kerr who successfully secured his place in the final of the P&D Veterans Champion of Champions yesterday in horrific weather conditions at Blacklandmill Bowling Club against Renfrew Bowling Club.

He will now face a tough test in the final against Kilbarchan Bowling Club on Friday 21st August at Charleston Bowling Club due to start at 1:30pm.

First of our Finals Days yesterday and we had the Pairs Final which was fiercely contested and went down to the last bowl.

Victory went to John Paul Drew and Stuart Colquhoun winning 17-16 against John Fleming (Shangers) and Gary Smyth.

Good turnout from spectators and hopefully all enjoyed the final.

Next Saturday sees the Gents Championship Final @ 2pm.
