The club has today received written notice from Cricket Scotland that the appeal to the 50 point sanction applied by WDCU has been refused, meaning that despite 6 wins, the First XI have finished 10th place in Premiership 1 and are subsequently relegated.

We are disappointed that concerns around player safety did not, in the opinion of the panel, merit an exceptional circumstance and that the clubs view that the penalty was excessive and not in line with other disciplinary action taken by WDCU was not recognised.

We are also frustrated that this process took so long to conclude from an incident which occured in week 6 and that this lack of clarity was not helpful to all of the teams involved at the bottom of the table.

We do however accept the panels decision as final. Preparations will now begin for Premiership 2 cricket and a successful season in 2027.

🔵Notice to members🔵

The club committee continues to be asked about the situation regarding league placings for the Premiership 1 season 2026.

Our appeal to the 50 point deduction for the match against GHK in matchday 6 remains in the hands of Cricket Scotland. Whilst we are frustrated that the appeal could not be heard before the end of the season, we understand and respect Cricket Scotland's reasoning for delay.

The club will make no further comment at this stage.
