Gleniffer Thistle Girls and Ladies

We are pleased to announce the signing of striker Tasha Marshall. Tasha is a player we have admired for some time and scored 63 goals last season whilst helping Bishopton to the title. We would like to thank Steven at Bishopton for his assistance in getting Tasha on board at Gleniffer.

Tasha got her Gleniffer Thistle journey off to a flying start by scoring a hat-trick and getting an assist against Dumbarton whilst disguised as ‘Trialist 29’ in Sundays 7-0 win. We would like to Welcome Tasha to the club.

We were lucky to have a special visitor at Today’s match v Dumbarton. Vincenzo Bottiglieri father of our Italian centre back Marianna was present for today’s match. He got to watch Marianna skipper the side to 7-0 win and a clean sheet. We were pleased to be able to present Vincenzo with his very own replica of Marianna’s away kit complete with number 19. No pressure Vincenzo but you are now the founding member of the Gleniffer Thistle Ladies Italian supporters club. If you are reading this in Italy then please give all of our socials a follow!

Dumbarton 0-7 Gleniffer Thistle

Another great squad performance today away to Dumbarton. We started well with the ball on the ground keeping our shape and looking to play where we could and we opened the scoring early when an excellent delivery from a corner from Hannah Cameron was met at the back post by Marci MacKay who forced it home. It wasn’t long until it was two when Sina Pickens cross was met by Trialist 29 who nodded over the keeper. It was soon three when Cara Lovat’s perfect through ball was finished really well by Marci MacKay.. The next was once again an excellent delivery from Hannah Cameron from a corner to the back post but this time Rebecca Donegan was there to force it home. The fifth was some route one football when a great kick from Leigh Skelton found its way all the way through to Trialist 29 who finished well. It was six before half time and this time Trialist 29 became provider with a lovely ball through to Rebecca Donegan who finished well for her second of the match. At Half Time it was 6-0.

In the second half we made a lot of changes which seemed to disrupt the flow a little although we did continue to dominate the game and creat chances. We did find the net for a seventh time Kirsty Ross playing in Trialist 29 who fired into the top corner to complete her hat-trick.

Good to get minutes in legs today of all of the squad. A good debut and hat-trick to go with it for our trialist, Marci and Rebecca both grabbing doubles, Marianna and Hannah solid in the middle and Leigh getting back to back clean sheets and an assist but today’s player of the match for her two assists and a solid performance, growing in confidence with every game despite having a tough week away from the pitch this week is Hannah Cameron.

Last night our management team were voted in third place in the Ladies Management Team of the Year awards. Thanks to everyone who nominated us or voted for us we really appreciate it but this group of ladies make our job a lot easier as their attitude is first class 🧡⚽️

This weekend the ladies take on Dumbarton in our last sectional league cup away from home at Dumbarton’s ‘The Rock’ stadium. 2pm kick off
