THINGS I’VE LEARNT ABOUT TRAINING FOR LIFE
Through illness, recovery, pregnancy, postpartum and beyond.
1. Your body is always adapting.
Whether it’s pregnancy, illness, injury, stress or recovery, your body is constantly responding to life’s demands.
Work with it, not against it.
2. Recovery is not a setback.
Rest isn’t quitting.
Healing isn’t weakness.
Recovery is where your body does some of its most important work.
3. Progress looks different in every season.
Sometimes progress is lifting heavier.
Sometimes it’s walking without pain.
Sometimes it’s simply getting through the day.
It all counts.
4. Pregnancy showed me strength.
Growing humans taught me that strength isn’t just found in the gym.
It’s found in what our bodies are capable of every single day.
5. Postpartum taught me patience.
You cannot rush healing.
You cannot rush rebuilding.
Trust the process and give yourself grace.
6. Consistency beats perfection.
The perfect plan means nothing if you can’t stick to it.
Small actions repeated over time create lasting change.
7. Your body deserves kindness.
Training should build you up, not break you down.
The goal is strength, not punishment.
8. Adaptation is a superpower.
When life changes, your training can change too.
There is always a way to keep moving forward.
9. Strength is about more than muscles.
It’s resilience.
It’s confidence.
It’s getting back up when life knocks you down.
10. Train for life.
Not for a holiday.
Not for a dress size.
Not for someone else’s expectations.
Train for the life you want to live.
The biggest lesson?
Your body will change throughout your life.
Through pregnancy.
Through postpartum.
Through illness.
Through recovery.
Through ageing.
The goal isn’t to get your old body back.
The goal is to build a strong, capable body for the season you’re in right now. ❤️💪

10 Years of GPA. Countless challenges. Still moving forward.
This photo is a reminder that recovery isn’t always pretty, polished or inspirational. Sometimes it looks like a hospital gown, tired eyes and another hurdle to overcome.
This week I had surgery on my ear in the hope of improving my hearing after years of damage caused by GPA (Granulomatosis with Polyangiitis). Ten years of living with a chronic illness has brought its fair share of challenges – hearing loss, middle ear damage, balance issues, fatigue and learning that my body doesn’t always play by the rules.
There have been times when simply standing upright felt like a workout. Times when the world felt off balance, literally and figuratively.
But through it all, one thing I’ve learned is that health isn’t about punishing ourselves into being stronger. It’s about listening. Adapting. Respecting what our body is telling us.
Exercise has been one of my greatest tools, not because it “fixes” everything, but because it helps me maintain strength, mobility and resilience. Equally important has been learning when to rest, when to recover and when to give my body the space it needs to heal.
Strength isn’t always lifting heavier, running faster or doing more.
Sometimes strength is cancelling plans.
Sometimes strength is resting.
Sometimes strength is having surgery and trusting the recovery process.
Sometimes strength is simply getting up and trying again tomorrow.
Living with a long-term illness has taught me that progress isn’t linear. We adapt, we adjust, we learn and we keep moving forward.
So for anyone navigating illness, recovery, menopause, motherhood, injury or just a difficult season of life, be kind to yourself. Your body is not the enemy. It’s the vehicle carrying you through every challenge you face.
Today, I’m focusing on recovery. Tomorrow, I’ll focus on rebuilding.
One step at a time. 💙

Apologise out of office ♥️
Just a little message to say I’m currently out of office and slower than usual replying to messages.
As much as I love what I do and supporting every single person who reaches out, right now I’m prioritising some important family time. Family will always come first for me, and I know many of you will understand that balance can sometimes be hard to navigate.
Thank you so much for your patience, kindness and continued support. I will get back to everyone as soon as possible and appreciate every message more than you know. 🤍

10 years!!
10 years ago my family fought hard for a diagnosis and I forgot hard to survive.
10 years later the story that I thought was sat in a beautiful remission may be back, but this time I am stronger, this time I want answers this time I won’t take this laying down.
I beg you please listen to your bodies, don’t let them tell you. “it’s your age” “your tiered because you have kids” “life is busy”
I have spent the last 4 years unwell again, thinking it’s because I’m a mum of twins, that everything was fine because I was (should have been looked after) under the care of consultants!! This isn’t the case.
I have no idea what is going on, just a passing comment from a GP which could mean 2 things, but things that should have been dealt with 2 years ago.
Speak up, stand up but alway be kind with your words.
