This week we bid farewell to two of Penicuik’s finest Aussies, starting with wicketkeeper Pat Huolohan and his lovely partner Cassie, who joined us from Newcastle this year.

An exemplary player, coach and friend to so many at the club, Pat has excelled in every way. He has led our girls’ sessions on many Saturday mornings, regularly volunteered to support the club, while Cassie has been part of our busy bar team.

In any normal year, Pat’s exploits with the bat would have had him top of the tree, with over 600 runs to his name and countless trademark gritty, counter-attacking innings to his name. Pats was capped off in style by an incredible 109 against Heriot’s to win his baggy cap, an award we know he’ll cherish.

Behind the stumps, his sure glove work and lightning-fast hands consistently gave the team an edge, while his leadership and cricketing knowledge were always on show.

We also say goodbye to Pat the friend. The master of the “no play” call. Chairman of the sideline book club. The ultimate badger. The two over man. The lap-sweeping, Ranga-taxed dynamo.

Pat has shown himself to be one of cricket’s good guys, showing immense commitment to Penicuik Cricket Club, its people and our history. Showing up on and off the field time and time again for his teammates and friends.

We will miss them both dearly and hope to welcome two much-loved members of the Cuikie family back to Kirkhill in short order.

Thank you, Pat, and safe travels home! 🇦🇺❤️🏏

Cuik for life.

Thank you to everyone who came along to the club on Saturday for the unveiling of John Wight’s memorial bench.

What a fabulous turnout and a fitting way to remember a much-loved and long-standing member of the Penicuik family.

John is still very much missed, but it was lovely to see so many friends, family and club members come together to celebrate his life and his connection with the club.

The mighty Twos return home with a strong side looking to secure a very good 3rd place finish! 🔥🏏

Star men Bryce Gray, Grant Davidson & Charlie Shade return to add plenty of ballast to a strong batting lineup, while centurion Lewis Carter will be looking to repeat his tremendous work from last week! 💯

The Duck Trophy also goes down to the last, with Smith & Shadey battling it out for Penicuik’s most coveted prize. 🦆🏆

With Awards Night to follow in the evening, the boys will be keen to put on one hell of a show!

Go on Cuikie! ❤️🖤

One final time, the Cuikie 1st XI head on the road in 2026. 🏏❤️🖤

In what promises to be a bittersweet day, a strong side heads down to Melrose, one of Morton’s home grounds, with plenty still to play for.

Ashforth, Badelli, Wylie & Docherty all return to the side, while Captain Adams languishes in Switzerland with absolutely no FrogBox in sight. 🇨🇭📱😂

There’s a strong finish in the league to play for, but more importantly, a fitting send-off awaits our two fantastic Aussies as their time with the Cuikie comes to an end. 🇦🇺❤️

One more away day. One more big send.

Go well, Cuikie! 🔥🏏

A special mention this weekend must go to one of the club’s finest young talents. 👏🏏

Lewis Carter struck a magnificent 100 not out on Saturday at Craiglockhart, bringing up his milestone in style with a whipped ball through square leg to win the game against league leaders Watsonians! 🔥

Having come through the junior ranks at Penicuik, it was a proud moment on his return to Kirkhill as Captain Airey presented Lewis with his baggy cap to mark the achievement. 🧢

What a way to bring up your first hundred. Well done Lewis! ❤️🖤

It was great to welcome John McEwan and his associates, Owen, Willie, Jon, Murray, Gavin, Dave, Tony & Ross, down to Kirkhill on Saturday! 🍻🏏

While the 1st XI were defeated on the day, John was happy to present the Man of the Match award to Ollie Picken after a swashbuckling 22 with the bat and an impressive 4 wickets with the ball! 🔥

The performance sees Ollie move to the top of the league standings. 👑

A huge thanks to John and the whole group for their continued support of the Cuik. We look forward to welcoming you all back to Kirkhill next year! ❤️🖤
