🌿🥾 CHILTERNS 3 PEAKS CHALLENGE 🥾🌿
My son Phoenix, my niece and I took on the Chilterns 3 Peaks Challenge yesterday - an 18.5 mile (30km) hike through some of the most beautiful countryside the Chiltern Hills have to offer, raising money for Rennie Grove Peace Hospice Care. 🤍
Our route took us from Princes Risborough to Ivinghoe Beacon, following sections of the historic Ridgeway and climbing three iconic Chiltern summits: Whiteleaf Cross, Coombe Hill and Ivinghoe Beacon. ⛰️
It was a proper day out in the hills - 18.5 miles of undulating, uneven terrain, with woodland paths, open countryside, chalk tracks, descents and some good climbs. The route took us through elevations reaching around 260m, with Ivinghoe Beacon itself standing at around 249m above sea level.
For me, this wasn’t about pushing my physical limits. I love being outdoors, walking in the hills and moving my body… This was about enjoying the scenery, the fresh air and the journey with my son and niece, and fundraising for charity along the way.
For Phoenix and my niece, though, 18.5 miles is a very different challenge. And that’s what makes this one particularly special.
I’m incredibly proud of them both for stepping outside their comfort zones, putting the miles in and taking on something that asked more of them physically and mentally. There’s something wonderful about sharing experiences like this with the next generation - not because everything has to be difficult, but because sometimes the best memories come from simply putting one foot in front of the other and seeing where the path takes you. ❤️
Every step has a purpose.
🥾 18.5 miles. 3 peaks. Quality family time. 1 beautiful day in the Chilterns. 🌿
