Colts Taking A Season Out

Following a careful review we have decided to take a season out for Letham Colts to give us more time to finalise the upgrading of our facilities.

Both projects for upgrading of the grass pitch at seven acres and the installation of changing facilities at the Bowl are ongoing and will give the club lots of room to grow and develop our offering.

Last season the committee of St Johns FC very kindly allowed us the use of their clubrooms which we were very grateful for however this season with their welcome return to the league this will not be possible.

As such we have opted to take a season out to finalise our developments and will re-enter the colts team next season.

Not much to say other than score doesn’t reflect the game. Our boys were in game for a lot of it and it took a red card for fair City to take control...

Today we welcomed Ballinluig....

We wanted to continue our good start to the year after going 2 in 2.

From the ko game was fairly even with no chances created until we get a free kick about 25 yards out on the left and mikey fortheringham stepped up to finish brilliantly to the keepers near post 15 mins in 1-0. But after that we seemed to stop playing and credit where its due Ballinluig where on top constantly pressuring us without making any chances thou until on the half hour mark a mix up at the back allowed them back in as there man got a tap in 1-1.

We asked the boys at half time to step there game up and gives us more and get back to knocking the ball about. We also made a couple of changes at HT with kacper pzesclica 1 of the 05s in the squad today comimg on and Jack Muirhead the other. This seemed to work especially young kasper who was chasing everything down and giving there defence a headache and with 1 of the other 05s Sam currie who started today playing left of the 3 at the back playing a blinder winning everyball he went for this was making it hard for them to name any clear chances. We hit the bar twice from direct free kicks from logan grant and mikey fortheringham also had a couple of other chances 1 being mikey getting 1 cleared off the line after young kacper got through for keeper to make save and mikey unlucky with rebound. We also had another 05 come on with half hour to go young greig ramsay he also put in a shift and had a good game.

Special mention to the 3 05s who stepped uptoday all of them doing really well and impressing especially Sam currie says it all when our manager Aaron mcregor had to go in sticks and never had a save to make the whole game after they scored as the back 3 where solid.

2 wins and a draw to start the year coaches are happy with that as the team continues to get better everyweek with everyone putting in a shift now and most important playing for each other.

Today we travelled to Kinrossie. After last weeks good win away we wanted to build on that and go 2 for 2 in the new year.

Straight away the boys where on top winning every 50/50 on pitch that was horrendous still trying to play the ball on the deck and string passes together. And early on we take the lead mikey brown playing mikey fortheringham in who calmly slotted past the keeper 1-0. We were soon 2-0 up when good work down right seen Lewis mcregor whip in a great ball for Nathan rebbeck to come in back post and score. Again we go up park and make it 3-0 when the ball was half cleared and Nathan rebbeck left foot strike rifled in the top corner. We then go 4 up when the combination of the 2 mikeys works again mikey b laying in mikey f goal then to finish half Nathan rebbeck grabs his hat trick when mikey f crosses and he slots home with the right yes the right foot 🤣

At half time we make a change to give boys a run but that didn't halt them when they go onto score another 3 the first coming from logan grant getting on the end of Ross Connelly Cross then David mcgranaghan getting on the end of another Ross Cross and to finish it off logan getting on the end of a Macaulay Matthews shot come Cross...he did say was a cross but we don't believe him

Brilliant from lads today on a tough pitch special shout out to David mcgranaghan in middle of park was everywhere today won every tackle and even bagged a goal

Today we travelled up the A9 to face Ballinluig in a league fixture.

With couple new faces and boys helping out we knew would be a tough game and it was in the first with us not really getting our foot on the ball and the home team dominating possession without creating anything, apart from a pen they got 10 mins in but it was superbly saved by keeper Joe.

HT 0-0

At half time we shifted the team about and made a change and ask the boys just to get on ball more and be calm and confident. It seem to work as we where on top from ko creating a half chance which Jack Muirhead put over bar. But we kept going and half way through half got a throw down the left which we took long and was half cleared by there man the ball fell to Jack Muirhead who took 1 touch out his feet and fired a screamer in the opposite top corner keeper had no chance was like an arrow 0-1. Both teams where playing good football again without getting much chances apart from a long ball which there striker beat our keeper to for it to hit bar and Joe collected 2nd ball. Then with time running out we Tey to manage game out but a silly decision to take a quick freekick with a min to go cost us as we lose ball and Ballinluig go down the left and cross ball is finished well from there striker 1-1.
