Werrington CC T20 have reached the final of the Peterborough Midweek League after an incredible 3-wicket win against one of the strongest sides, Shahada CC.

Chasing a competitive 158, Werrington were struggling at 31/5 after just 4 overs, but the team showed amazing character and determination to complete the chase in only 18 overs.

Outstanding performances:

Earlier, Khurshid Ahmed produced an excellent spell, taking 4/22 to keep us in the game.

🏏 What an outstanding week for Werrington CC! 🏏

The week ended on a high note with some fantastic performances across all formats.

✅ Sunday 1st XI produced a dominant display against a strong City CC 2nd XI last Sunday, securing a massive 140 run victory. The highlight of the match was an exceptional bowling spell from Ali Butt, who played a key role in the win.

✅ In the Peterborough Midweek T20 League, Werrington CC defeated Peterborough Champs to book their place in the semi-finals. A brilliant all-round performance from M. Toseeq earned him the Man of the Match award, claiming 3 wickets for 21 runs in 4 overs and remaining 20 not out.

✅ Saturday 1st XI overcame Elstow CC 2nd XI, thanks to a match-winning performance from Naveed Ahmed, who won the game single handily and guided the team to victory with his 77 runs and 2 crucial wickets.

✅ The week concluded with another emphatic 140-run victory for the Sunday 1st XI against a strong Orton Park CC side. Outstanding contributions from Fakhar Jamal 46 and 3 wickets M. Toseeq 72 runs and Junaid 67 runs and 2 wickets led the team to a memorable win.

Another excellent win by Werrington CC T20 side against a very strong AK11 team. 🏏👏

AK11 were bowled out for just 91 runs thanks to an excellent bowling performance by Khurshid, who continued his wicket-taking form with brilliant figures of 4 wickets for 15 runs.

Werrington chased the target comfortably in 15 overs with a great all-round team performance.

After losing 2 games, Saturday 1st finally managed to get back to winning ways with a brilliant victory against Nassington CC.

Nassington were struggling early on at 40/4 thanks to a brilliant opening spell from Mateeh Ur Rehman and Hafiz Ali Butt on a decent batting track.

The Hayat brothers recovered well with a superb 100-run partnership, but Werrington CC managed to restrict them to 210 with some quality bowling from Natty and Junaid.

In reply, Werrington lost three of their most important players within the first 4 overs, but recovered brilliantly with unbeaten 65s from Kamboh and Viru, supported by a valuable cameo from Ubaid Ur Rehman, to secure a fantastic win. 🏏

Not an ideal start for WCC sat 1st XI and Sunday XI, with both sides losing their opening games against Wellingborough CC and Royal Strikers due to some shaky batting performances.

A huge congratulations to the Sunday 2nd XI for a brilliant 65-run victory against Benefield CC 👏🏏

Also well done to the T20 side for winning their opening cup game against Hampton CC 💪🔥

Plenty of positives to build on, and the season is still young.
