Hampton Table Tennis Club has been going since 2012 when our first team entered the Stamford League.

We now have 6 teams in the Peterborough and District Table Tennis League.

New players welcome, whether social or league standard...

29/09/2020

After a loooong wait, it’s looking as though we’ll be able to start training next week 😁.

We’re putting together a booking in sheet, you’d need to book a slot to be able to play.

The setup will be:

- 6 tables of 3 “bubbles”, the people within each “bubble” can play each other. Likely to be 2 bubbles of league players, 1 bubble of social players.
- 2 sessions
- Tables sanitised between games and sessions.
- £3 per session or £5 for both
- We’re currently getting the bank sorted out, however for the time being, it looks as though we’ll need to take cash payment. If you can come with the right money, that would help!

Look forward to seeing some of you next week!

Fingers crossed, we should be able to reopen again later on this month. Clearly, things will be different to pre-COVID:

· You will have to pre-book. You won’t be able to just turn up and play. Currently, we’re still working on how the booking system will work, but it’s likely that you will have to email or text one of the committee members. I’ll let you know when we’ve got it sorted.

· Our evening is likely to be split into two slots and you will need to book either the early slot or the late one. Until I know how what times we can hire the hall, I can’t be sure when the slots will be or for how long, although they are likely to be around 1 hour to 1 ¼ hours each. Depending upon demand, it might be possible to book both slots, but we want to get as many people playing as possible.

· Again, until we know what the rent will be, we cannot work out how much each session will cost. We want to introduce card payments or bank transfers, to avoid handling cash. There are currently still some technical issues (e.g. getting a secure signal for card payments), so we may have to run with cash to start with. If so, having exact money will greatly help.

· We will be introducing social distancing and hygiene measures, based upon the advice from Table Tennis England. However, there is a transmission risk associated with partaking in even socially distanced group activities Upon arrival, you will need to sign a declaration that you haven’t got COVID symptoms, that you will keep to the social distancing and hygiene measures and that you accept the associated risks. You will also need to provide contact details, in line with the national Test and Trace scheme.

· Social distancing will mean that we will have to limit the number of tables to 6 – all in the main hall. Also, you will have to stick to playing the same person throughout the session, and keep to the same end of the table. Doubles is not currently permitted.

Once I know any more, I’ll update you

COVID is still preventing us from playing at the moment. Also, with Vivacity relinquishing responsibility to the leisure centre(s), they remain closed (with all the tables and equipment locked inside).

We have had various meetings (Zoom calls) to discuss the return. Nothing has been agreed as yet, but it looks likely that we’d get fewer tables in so less people will be able to train. As soon as we have any further information, we’ll let you know.
