Northborough Indoor Bowls Club

Yesterday we attended the Vera & Les Butler Triples competition at Northborough Village Hall, our final Sunday tournament of the 2025/26 season. It was a great day with some fantastic bowling by the 10 teams involved.
I’m delighted to say that the winning team was our team from Northborough, and the runners up were from Deeping Gate.

If anyone in the village wants to find out more about playing carpet bowls at the village hall then just send us a message. Unlike many other carpet bowls clubs, we remain open over the summer months with just a short break if many club members are on holiday. We provide all the equipment so you just need some flat shoes and enthusiasm!

Last week we had our final league match of the season which we won 8-2 (36-22) away at Stilton.

This means that we ended the season as runners up in division 1 with a total of 64 points. The winners are North Luffenham with 75 points. Well done to everyone who played in the team this year.

Yesterday the North Cambridgeshire Indoor Carpet Bowls pairs competition was held at Northborough Village Hall. There were 18 teams from local clubs playing and 4 of these were from Northborough. This is part of 4 annual competitions (singles, pairs, triples and fours) that are held at the hall.
As well as playing bowls we all enjoyed tea/coffee with cakes and bacon rolls for lunch.
The final was between North Luffenham and Northborough and I’m delighted to say that Northborough won 🥇

The club would love to be able to enter 2 teams in the league next season, so if anyone is interested in trying a few free taster sessions then please get in touch. We practice each Monday at 7pm.

Last night we had a home match playing against Werrington which we won 10-0 (49-16). Werrington struggled with our fast carpet but kept smiling throughout!

Our final game of the season is away to Stilton in a couple of weeks.

Last night we had a difficult match playing away to Helpston. Everything was going OK until the last match which we unfortunately lost 10-0.
The final score was 4-6 (25-29) to Helpston.

Last night we had a good result at home to North Luffenham, winning 7-3 (29-26). This was a great match and it's always fun playing against the N. Luff team.

This keeps us in with a chance of winning the league, with 3 matches still to go this season. 🤞

☹️ We were knocked out of the Annette Stubbings competition last night, losing 3-5 away to Werrington.

Let’s hope for a better result in our league match against North Luffenham next week 🤞

We had a difficult match last night, playing away to Folksworth, with both their skips playing very well.
The final score was 2-8 (16-32) to Folksworth.

Next week we are away to Werrington in the semi-final of the Annette Stubbings competition. 🤞

Last night we had our last match of the season. We played at home to Stilton and won 9-1 points (52-16 shots).

In 2 weeks we have our Christmas fun night so hope all members can come along on 15th Dec.

Last night we won away to Market Deeping 8-0 points (51-37 shots) in the Annette Stubbings knockout competition.

We’ll find out who we play in the semi-finals when the draw is made in December.
