Busy weekend of basketball ahead. A double header for the Men. Meanwhile U14s and u16s get their NL seasons underway. Along with junior Durham league games for our girls and u14s White team. LETS GO LIONS!! 🦁🏀

East Durham Lions has always prided itself on being a community basketball club.

As such we strive to keep our costs as low as possible; we know they are and will continue to be amongst the lowest in the region at both junior and senior levels.

Sadly, despite our great ongoing relationship with East Durham College, they are raising the court hire fees from 1st October 2025 for all users.

As a result of this we regret that we need to increase our fees to you as well.

New Charges

Adult training and game fees - increase to £6.

Junior Pay and play sessions £4 per session.

We hope you understand the above changes have been only implemented out of necessity. Our club is fully staffed by volunteers and not run as a business. We just need to make sure that the costs are covered to enable us to carry on providing basketball to all.

These new charges come into effect immediately.

9 years ago our first ever national league Junior game. We won by 1 point with a Rich Clerihew lay up in the last seconds of the game. Can you believe 7 of the people in this pic are now part of our clubs first ever mens NL team. Come along tomorrow and Support them. 2pm tip at East Durham College!

Ahead of our clubs massive first senior nation league game we caught up with Player Coach Thomas Wylie to get his thoughts ahead of the opening weekend.

"To come from playing in our first junior national league team to now being the player coach for our first senior national leauge team feels surreal!

We had so many conversations about this when I was a junior and to now see it come to life and give myself and others the opportunity to play at a higher level at our own club is so gratifying.

I would love a podium finish this season but my main expectation is to create a great atmosphere at our games. Not just for the spectators but also for the players so they can improve as the season progresses and hopefully have fun along the way.

We have had a great offseason getting to know our new players and building a really strong bond in the team with players who are more than just teammates.

I am really looking forward to being responsible for the development of these young men (and Stu :-). To have so many players in the squad who came through our junior ranks and to help them further their playing careers is truly a blessing.
