Barbell Hip Thrust

As part of my leg workout this week, I added the glute focused exercise of a hip thrust.

Allowing the ability to make the glutes activate and fire on lifting a heavy load with minimal back or knee joint discomfort.

This exercise was selected after the heavy back squat. Allowing for less spinal compression while further fatiguing the posterior chain muscle groups.

After an initial warm up set then completed 3 sets of 10 reps.

Using a mat or a bar pad to assist with reducing hip discomfort is a must to allow better cognitive attention to those glute squeezes!

Give it a go, SAVE and SEND to your friends!

Working on multiple aspects of legs the squat has a wide variety of options.

One of those options is a heavy back squat.

In this video, I am completing my warm up set before working on 80% of my 1 RM and completing 3 sets of 5 reps.

This was right at the start of my workout, after my warm up and joint mobilisations.

A multiple joint compound movement that recruits a large amount of muscle fibres throughout the body.

A superb exercise to challenge muscle strength and hypertrophy.

Look out for more leg movements from this weeks workout.

SAVE and SEND to your mates!

🔬Wellbeing Wednesday 🔬

The group of muscles at the back of your upper leg called the hamstrings have a major role in many movements including walking, running, standing and many sports related movements. Like all our muscles they need training and it has been found that eccentric type resistance training is highly beneficial for athletes and anybody wishing to improve their strength in this area.

Incline glute ham raise

This movement is a fantastic exercise to work on glute, hamstring and lower back muscle strength. Seen performed with a posterior pelvic tilt to aid back decompression and establish more glute activation.
