U12s Shine at St Ives Festival!

Our U12s were invited to take part in the festival hosted by St Ives RFC on Sunday 6th April, competing in a pool alongside Camborne, St Agnes, Launceston, and Newquay Hornets.

Despite it being half term, the team rose to the challenge, showing determination and teamwork throughout the day. They recorded solid wins against Launceston, Newquay Hornets, and St Agnes, setting up a tough final match against a strong Camborne side—who had only lost once all season.

In what was arguably their hardest test so far, the team delivered an outstanding first half with three unanswered tries. The second half saw a heroic defensive effort as they held firm to protect their try line.

This weekend, the squad heads to South Molton for another exciting tournament, where they’ll face strong opposition including two teams from Cardiff RFC and Maesteg. Let’s go, Services!

Ｄｅｖｏｎ Ｐｌａｔｅ Ｆｉｎａｌ Ｃｈａｍｐｉｏｎｓ 🏆 What a game! Our U14 boys faced a seriously tough challenge in the Devon RFU Plate Final against a strong Teignmouth side. The final score: 17-19 to DSRFC! Teignmouth brought their A-game and pushed us all the way, but our lads showed incredible determination, teamwork, and heart. Every single player left it all out on the pitch – and their hard work paid off! We couldn’t be prouder of this group. 🏉 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗨𝟭𝟮𝘀 𝗖𝗼𝗿𝗻𝘄𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗧𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗮𝗽! 🏉 Our U12s kicked off their Cornwall tour on Friday, March 21st, with fantastic support from parents, grandparents, siblings—and even a few pet dogs! 🆚 𝗛𝗲𝗹𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗻 𝗥𝗙𝗖 )𝗦𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝟮𝟮𝗻𝗱) In a great opening match, we were lucky to dodge the rain and secured a strong 8-1 victory. The game was played in excellent spirit, and Helston RFC were fantastic hosts, welcoming us into their clubhouse afterward. 🆚 𝗣𝗲𝗻𝗿𝘆𝗻 𝗥𝗙𝗖 (𝗦𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝟮𝟯𝗿𝗱) After a full-on Saturday of rugby, beach fun at Hayle, and dancing the night away at the holiday camp clubhouse, the team came out flying on Sunday morning. Services stormed into a 6-1 𝙝𝙖𝙡𝙛𝙩𝙞𝙢𝙚 𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙙, but Penryn fought back with three unanswered tries. However, our boys stepped it up once more, finishing the game with a dominant 11-5 win. In a thrilling three-way fixture hosted by Arguam, 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐔𝟏𝟐𝐬 showcased their depth, determination, and defensive strength in an action-packed day of rugby against both 𝐀𝐫𝐠𝐮𝐚𝐦 and 𝐎𝐏𝐌𝐬. With every player giving it their all, the matches were played in an outstanding spirit, reflecting the very best of youth rugby.

From the first whistle, Services dominated the pitch, demonstrating their skill and teamwork in both attack and defence. The squad’s defensive resilience was on full display, conceding just 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐭𝐫𝐲 𝐚𝐜𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐬 𝐛𝐨𝐭𝐡 𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐬—a testament to their discipline and structure.

A standout moment of the day came from 𝐇𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐲 𝐁𝐮𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐝 who marked his debut in style with a well-earned try, setting the tone for what promises to be a bright future in the squad. With confidence soaring and momentum building, Services continue to go from strength to strength, proving that their hard work on and off the pitch is paying off.

Match Recap: DSRFC U12s 11 - Tavistock 2

Services wrapped up the first half of the 2024/2025 season with a hard-fought victory against Tavistock.

Tavistock showed incredible resilience, defending like Trojans and coming close to breaking through Services’ try line on several occasions. However, Services’ defence held firm when it mattered most.

Leadership from 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗻 𝗛𝗼𝘄𝗲𝘆, 𝗙𝗲𝗹𝗶𝘅 𝗖𝗼𝘁𝘁𝗼𝗻, and 𝗢𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗿𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘁 kept the team on track, while 𝗔𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗝𝗮𝗻𝗲𝘀 and 𝗜𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗼 𝗗𝗮𝗸𝘂 made a big impact, breaking through Tavistock’s defence with powerful runs.

Player of the Week was awarded to 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐨 𝐖𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐦𝐬 for an impressive debut featuring strong runs and solid defensive work.

𝗗𝗦𝗥𝗙𝗖 𝗨𝟭𝟮 𝘃 𝗢𝗣𝗠 𝗨𝟭𝟮

🏉 Match Recap: DSRFC U12 hosted their first home game of the season against a determined and well-drilled OPMs squad. The clash was intense, fast-paced, and packed with physicality.

Both teams showcased impressive phases of play, but early on, OPMs dominated the rucks with aggressive and effective play. However, Services held strong, keeping OPMs tryless while scoring some brilliantly executed team tries.

🌟 Player of the Week: Illimo Daku, who made his mark with powerful ball carries and hard-hitting defense.
