Elburton Villa Girls U16, Haye Road, Plymouth (2026)

03/10/2026

🟡🔵 PLYMOUTH PARKWAY GIRLS 1️⃣–0️⃣ ELBURTON VILLA 🔴⚪

DJM U16 Girls Leander Division

📅 Saturday 3rd October 2026

Not to be for the girls today as Villa suffer their first defeat of the season.

A very even game between the top two in the Leander Division, with both sides having spells where they looked the more dangerous.

After a scrappy opening five minutes, Villa began to take control and pushed Parkway backwards, with the girls looking dangerous when breaking forward.

Villa thought they had opened the scoring when Macey pounced on the rebound after the Parkway goalkeeper had saved an initial effort, only for the offside flag to deny them the opening goal.

As the half drew to a close, Parkway began to work their way into the game and the Villa back four had to remain alert to prevent them creating any clear-cut opportunities.

The closest either side came to breaking the deadlock came when a Parkway effort from the edge of the box came back off the Villa post.

Half Time

🟡🔵 Plymouth Parkway Girls 0️⃣–0️⃣ Elburton Villa 🔴⚪

The second half was much more even, with both teams battling hard to find the breakthrough.

Villa goalkeeper Lily was called into action on a couple of occasions and produced some good saves to keep Parkway at bay, while at the other end Villa's pace in attack continued to cause problems as the girls searched for the opening goal.

With time running out and a point apiece looking the most likely outcome, Villa won a corner.

Eva floated the ball towards the back post where Rubii was perfectly positioned to steer an effort towards goal, only for the Parkway goalkeeper to produce an excellent save to deny Villa what would have been a late winner. 👏

And then came the heartbreak.

Four minutes into stoppage time, Parkway broke forward and their striker managed to get into the Villa area before finding the far corner with the finish.

1️⃣–0️⃣.

There was no time for Villa to respond and the final whistle followed shortly afterwards. ⚽

🟡🔵Plymouth Parkway Girls 1️⃣–0️⃣ Elburton Villa 🔴⚪

A disappointing result and a tough one for the girls to take after they put in such a big shift today.

For large spells it was a very even contest between two teams who both had opportunities to win it, and ultimately it was decided by a fine save at one end followed by a late finish at the other.

Football can be a cruel game at times.

The girls can be proud of the effort they put in today, and now it's about bouncing back.

It's still very early in the season, there's plenty of football left to play and plenty still to fight for. 🔴⚪

A huge thank you to everyone who came along to support the girls today. Your support is always hugely appreciated. 👏

DJM U16 Leander Cup
26/09/26

🏆 Coaches' Player of the Match

Our number 16 – Sian 🔴⚪

After being last season's top scorer, it's been a frustrating few months for Sian as she’s battled her way back from a knee injury.

So it was fantastic to see her come off the bench at half time yesterday and make an immediate impact. Within the first 10 minutes of the second half, Sian had found the net twice to put the cup tie firmly in Villa's hands. ⚽⚽

She remained a constant threat to the Drake defence throughout the rest of the game and was unlucky not to add to her tally, with her movement and finishing causing problems every time she got into dangerous areas. 🔥

A brilliant return to goalscoring form and a performance that showed exactly what Sian can bring when she's fit, confident and enjoying her football.

A thoroughly deserved Coaches' Player of the Match award. 🌟

Congratulations, Sian! 👏❤️🤍

🏆 Opposition Player of the Match

Our number 16 – Sian 🔴⚪

Sian's impact yesterday was recognised by both benches, as she also picked up the Opposition Player of the Match award. 👏

Coming on at half time and scoring twice inside the opening 10 minutes of the second half was the perfect way to announce herself back amongst the goals. ⚽⚽

Her movement, positioning and eye for goal continued to cause problems for Drake throughout the second half, and she was unfortunate not to complete her hat-trick. 🔥

To come back from a difficult period with injury and produce a performance like that — while picking up both Player of the Match awards — was a brilliant moment for Sian. 💪

It's great to have her back amongst the goals and, more importantly, looking happy, confident and back to enjoying her football in a Villa shirt again. ❤️🤍

Well done, Sian! 👏🌟

🔴⚪ DRAKE FC GIRLS 0️⃣–2️⃣ ELBURTON VILLA 🟡⚫️

DJM U16 Girls Leander Cup – Quarter Final 🏆

📅 Saturday 26th September 2026

A winning start to the defence of the Leander Cup! 🏆🔴⚪

Villa began their defence of the Leander Cup with a well-deserved victory against Drake FC Girls in the opening round of the competition at Higher Efford.

Despite the dreadful playing surface, both teams tried to get the ball down and play football whenever they could, which was a credit to all the girls involved. 👏

Elburton took the game to their opponents from the start and created the better of the chances.
Drake were indebted to their goalkeeper, who produced impressive saves to deny both Izzy and Rosa, while Thea was unlucky to see a good effort come back off the crossbar. 😲

At the other end, Drake's dangerous and fast breaks kept the Villa defence on their toes, and the girls had to remain alert to ensure they didn't concede.

Villa continued to have the better of the play and create opportunities, but despite their dominance the breakthrough wouldn't come before the interval.

Half Time

🔴⚪ Drake FC Girls 0️⃣–0️⃣ Elburton Villa 🟡⚫️

Not for the first time this season, patience was the message from the Villa coaches at half-time.
And the girls were rewarded almost immediately after the restart.

Just two minutes into the second half, Sian showed great composure to seize on a loose ball and calmly fire past the Drake goalkeeper to finally break the deadlock. ⚽🔥

0️⃣–1️⃣!

Just five minutes later, it was 2️⃣–0️⃣.

Sian doubled her tally following another trademark through ball assist from Eva, with the pair combining once again to put Villa firmly in control. ⚽👏

Sian was playing with real confidence and came close to completing her hat-trick, with one effort narrowly missing the target before another was once again saved by the Drake goalkeeper.

More chances came and went as Villa looked to put the game beyond doubt, while Drake continued to battle hard and look for a way back into the tie.
But there were to be no further goals.

A really good cup performance from the girls.

They controlled large spells of the game, created plenty of chances and, importantly, showed the patience needed to keep going when the goals weren't coming.

Two quick goals after half-time finally opened the game up and Villa saw the job through to book their place in the Leander Cup semi-final. 🏆👏

A huge thank you once again to Drake FC Girls for another tough and competitive game.

That's now three meetings between the two sides in the opening month of the season, and we're already looking forward to our third league encounter later in the campaign. 👏

❤️🤍 A huge thank you to everyone who travelled to support the girls today. Your support is always hugely appreciated.

🔴⚪ THIS TIME, IT'S THE CUP... ⚪🔴

For the third time this month, we face Drake FC Girls — but this time there’s a place in the semi final of the DJM Under 16 Girls Leander League Cup at stake. 🏆⚽

After securing our progress into the next round of one cup competition last weekend with a dramatic penalty shootout victory over Braunton Wanderers in the Devon Cup, the girls now turn their attention to the Leander Cup. 💪🔥

We know each other pretty well by now. Our opening game of the season finished in a 1-1 draw at Drake before the girls produced a good performance to secure a 5-0 win in the return fixture at Haye Road.

But tomorrow is a different challenge altogether as the two sides go head-to-head with a place in the next round on the line. 👊⚽

After lifting the Leander Cup last season, the girls are keen to retain the trophy but know they’ll have to be at their best to progress. We’ll need the same intensity, attitude and desire we've shown in recent weeks, along with taking our chances when they come. 🔥

Let’s get behind the girls and give them plenty of support as they look to start their cup defence with a win and book their place in the next round! 🙌⚽

Apologies for the later than usual post this week, but here are our Weekend Players of the Match winners following a busy double header of games. 🔴⚪

🏆 Players of the Match
Double Header Weekend

🏆 Saturday vs Horrabridge
DJM U16 Leander

🏆 Coaches' Player of the Match

Our number 3 – Isla 🔴⚪

A consistently reliable and solid performance from Isla, who was superb from full back throughout a tough game against Horrabridge. 💪

Isla seemed to make the right decision time and time again, rarely putting a foot wrong as she defended brilliantly and dealt with everything that came her way. 👏

She also showed her willingness to get forward and support the attack, regularly pushing on from full back and helping Villa get on the front foot. 🔥

A composed and dependable performance from Isla and a thoroughly deserved Coaches' Player of the Match award. 🌟

Congratulations, Isla! 👏❤️🤍

🏆 Opposition Player of the Match

Our number 9 – Izzy 🔴⚪

Izzy's pace, energy and non-stop running made her a constant threat to the Horrabridge defence. ⚡

She was always looking to take defenders on, attack space and get Villa moving forward, helping us stay on the front foot throughout the game. 🔥

Another strong attacking performance from Izzy and a great recognition of her contribution from the opposition.

Well done, Izzy! 👏❤️🤍

🏆 Sunday vs Braunton Wanderers
U16 Girls Devon Cup – First Round

🏆 Coaches' Player of the Match

Our number 11 – Sienna 🔴⚪

The whole back four performed admirably against a lively and dangerous Braunton forward line, with Sienna at the heart of that defensive effort. 💪

She was composed and dependable throughout, helping Villa deal with the pressure and keep Braunton's attacking players under control. 👏

And fittingly, Sienna had the final say in the penalty shootout, calmly slotting home the decisive seventh penalty to send Villa through to the next round. ⚽🔥

A huge defensive contribution followed by the composure to deliver when the pressure was at its highest.

Congratulations, Sienna! 👏❤️🤍

🏆 Opposition Player of the Match

Our number 9 – Izzy 🔴⚪

For the second day running, Izzy takes the Opposition Player of the Match award after another outstanding attacking performance. 👏

Izzy was on fire in the first half, with her direct running causing the Braunton defence all sorts of problems as she repeatedly attacked the full back and made things happen for Villa. 🔥

She also found the scoresheet for the second day in a row, continuing what has been an excellent run of form in front of goal. ⚽

Izzy has really added consistency to her game lately, and picking up the Opposition Player of the Match award on both days of the double header is a great reflection of the impact she's having. 💪

Well done, Izzy! 👏❤️🤍

A brilliant weekend for the girls, with another 3 points in the league alongside progression into the second round of the Devon Cup. 🔴⚪

Well done to all award winners! 👏🌟

U16 Girls Devon County Cup – First Round

📅 Sunday 20th September 2026

Into the 🎩 we go for Round 2!

What a game. What a finish. What a way to book our place in the next round of the Devon Cup! 🔴⚪

Braunton came racing out of the blocks, seizing on some Villa indecisiveness to score inside the first minute and give the girls an early mountain to climb.

It set the tone for what was to be an action-packed cup tie.

Playing their second game within 24 hours, Villa refused to let the early setback bother them. The girls quickly settled, began putting some attacks of their own together and looked determined to find a way back into the game.

They didn't have to wait long.

Amelia picked out a superb through ball to release Izzy, who kept her composure and finished well to bring Villa level. ⚽👏

1️⃣–1️⃣!

Izzy's pace was causing all sorts of problems for the Braunton defence, while Rosa was playing a key role through the middle, looking to release both Izzy and Thea on opposite flanks.

Eva was also becoming a real driving force from midfield, winning the ball and then carrying it forward at pace, driving straight at the heart of the Braunton defence and launching attack after attack. She came close herself on a few occasions and was unlucky not to add to the scoresheet.

Villa were now dominating the first half and it felt like it was only a matter of time before they found a second.

Just after the half-hour mark, they did exactly that.
Rubii teed up Priyah on the edge of the box and Priyah struck a superb effort from distance to put Villa ahead — her first goal for the club since signing in the summer! ⚽🔥

2️⃣–1️⃣!

Villa continued to control proceedings and, despite their dominance, there were no further goals before the break, with the girls taking their deserved 2–1 lead into half-time.

The pressure continued after the restart, with Lydia coming close to adding a third with a shot from the edge of the box before a succession of dangerous Villa corners just failed to be converted.

But midway through the half, the third goal finally arrived.

Eva stepped up from the spot and coolly converted the penalty to extend Villa's lead. ⚽🎯

3️⃣–1️⃣!

With the game seemingly under control, perhaps the girls relaxed a little. Perhaps the demands of playing their second game of the weekend — and their sixth game in just 15 days — began to take their toll.

Either way, Villa's play became a little sloppy and Braunton took advantage, pulling a goal back to make it 3️⃣–2️⃣.

Then, with time running out, Braunton found the equaliser.

3️⃣–3️⃣.

From a position where Villa had looked in control, the game was now heading to penalties.

And what followed was every bit as dramatic.

Some well-taken penalties and some good saves during the shootout meant that after five penalties each, sudden death was required.

Braunton scored.

The pressure was now on Lilly S.

She duly stepped up and calmly converted. ⚽👏

Penalty number seven.

Lily R then produced the save Villa needed to keep the girls alive. 🧤🔥

And that left Sienna with the chance to win it.

No problem.

Cool as you like, she calmly slotted it home to send Villa through to Round 2! 🎩🔴⚪

PENALTIES: 5️⃣–4️⃣!

Great entertainment for the neutral, absolutely nerve-wracking for the Villa coaches and supporters… but the job was eventually done!

🎩 Through to Round 2!

A second game in 24 hours, a sixth game in just 15 days and a cup tie that had just about everything.
The girls showed plenty of character to recover from that early setback, took control of the game, had to withstand a late Braunton fightback and then showed their nerve when it mattered most from the spot.

Job done. Round 2 awaits! 👏🔴⚪

👏 A huge thank you to Braunton Wanderers for making the long journey down to Plymouth for the game. We wish you all the very best for the season ahead.

🔴⚪ Elburton Villa Juniors FC 2️⃣–1️⃣ HORRABRIDGE RANGERS SA 🟠⚫

DJM U16 Girls Leander Division

📅 Saturday 19th September 2026

Not pretty. Not emphatic. But another victory, another three points and another test of the girls' character. 💪🔴⚪

Villa were far from their best today, with the girls struggling to find the rhythm and fluency that we've seen from them in recent matches.

Horrabridge took the lead midway through the first half when a mix-up at the back resulted in the ball ending up in the Villa net.

1️⃣–0️⃣.

Despite not playing the football we know they're capable of, Villa dug deep and showed their character.

When Eva played a good pass into the box, Izzy kept her composure and fired home to bring Villa level. ⚽👏

1️⃣–1️⃣!

And with half-time approaching, Villa completed the turnaround.

Eva seized on a mistake in the Horrabridge defence and finished superbly to put Villa ahead. ⚽🔥

2️⃣–1️⃣!

That was how the girls went into the break.

The second half saw Villa settle a little and begin to play some better football, with the girls looking more comfortable and starting to find their passing game.

To their credit, Horrabridge kept working hard throughout, competing for every loose ball and ensuring Villa had to remain alert at the back.

Rosa was really unlucky not to make the game safe when her clever movement to pick up a pass from Thea got her clear of the defence, but her finish just drifted wide of the far post. 😲

Izzy also came close twice, with her energy and eagerness to run at defenders creating opportunities for herself as she looked to add to her goal.

But ultimately there were no more goals.
And the final score remained:

Not our best performance. Not the prettiest of victories.

But sometimes you have to dig deep, show some character and find a way to get the result.

The girls did exactly that today. 💪

Another three points in the bag and another valuable experience for this Villa side as we continue our unbeaten start to the season. 👏🔴⚪

Attention now turns to tomorrow, with Braunton Wanderers visiting Haye Road in the first round of the Devon Cup. 🏆

👏 A huge thank you to Horrabridge Rangers for a competitive game today, and we wish them all the very best for the rest of the season.
