🔴⚪ Pre-season continues... ⚪🔴

After a couple of weeks without a game, pre-season action returns on Friday evening as we travel across the Tamar to take on Saltash United Flames at Kimberley Stadium, home of Saltash United. 💪⚽

It’s another opportunity for the girls to get valuable minutes under their belts as we continue building towards the new 2026/27 campaign. After the opening couple of friendlies, the focus remains firmly on continuing to develop, improve and build as a squad. 🔥

With the squad continuing to settle and new players getting more time alongside their teammates, every game gives us another chance to develop understanding, build partnerships and sharpen things up on the pitch. ❤️🤍

Pre-season is all about putting the work in, learning from every game and making progress week by week. There’s still plenty to work on, but Friday gives the girls another opportunity to test themselves, compete and continue taking those steps forward. 👏⚽

This weekend, Lilly and Thea swapped their boots for whistles as they successfully completed their FA Referee Course and are now qualified referees! ⚽

It's fantastic to see our players giving back to the game, learning a different side of football and developing their understanding of the Laws of the Game. 🟥🟨

⚽️ Tournament Round-Up 🔴⚪️

A brilliant afternoon of football at the Starcross Dons Youth F.C Tournament comes to an end, with the girls once again showing exactly what this team is all about. 👏❤️

We remained unbeaten throughout the group stages, recording three draws and two wins, whilst keeping an incredible five clean sheets from five games! 🧤🙌

✅ 1-0 vs Inter Plymouth ⚽
✅ 4-0 vs Fremington 🔥
🟰 0-0 vs Torquay United Blues

The 4-0 victory over Fremington was the biggest win in the Under-15 tournament, and our performances saw us finish 3rd in the group, securing a place in the Cup quarter-finals. 💪🏆

We were then drawn against Torquay United Yellows, and after another incredibly tight contest finished 0-0, the tie was settled by penalties.

Following a marathon shootout, with nine penalties taken by each side, luck just wasn't on our side as our tournament came to an end. 💔
While it's always disappointing to bow out, there are so many positives to take from the day. Six matches played, six clean sheets, unbeaten in normal time, and another excellent team performance from every single player. 👏❤️

The girls did the club proud once again and continue to show fantastic progress as pre-season rolls on. 💪❤️🤍

Our pre-season preparations continue tomorrow as we head to the Starcross Dons Youth F.C Tournament for another afternoon of competitive football. 💪⚽

With two pre-season friendlies already under our belts, tomorrow gives the girls another great opportunity to continue building fitness, confidence and understanding as we prepare for the new season. Every game is another chance to learn, improve and grow together as a team. ❤️🤍

The squad are looking forward to testing themselves against some new opposition, enjoying another afternoon of tournament football and continuing the progress we've made throughout pre-season so far. 🙌⚽

Our number 5 – Macey 🔴⚪

Despite the disappointing scoreline, one real positive to come from Saturday's game was the performance of one of our new signings, Macey. 👏

From the first whistle to the last, her attitude and work rate never wavered. She gave absolutely everything for the team, competing for every ball and never hiding, even when things weren't going our way. 💪❤️

Macey was asked to play in several different positions throughout the game and adapted brilliantly to each role, showing great versatility, a willingness to learn and putting the team first every time. 🔥

Against a very strong opposition, she continued to battle, worked tirelessly for her teammates and showed exactly the kind of character and commitment we want to see. 🌟

A thoroughly deserved Coaches' Player of the Match performance and hopefully the first of many in an Elburton Villa shirt. 👏❤️🤍

As much as we don't want to, we can't just post when things go our way – we have to post when things go against us too, and today they definitely did.

A heavy defeat against an excellent MAP side, but also a big lesson for us all. Pre-season is about learning, developing and preparing for the season ahead, and today certainly gave us plenty to reflect on. 💪⚽

From the first whistle, Marine Academy showed why they are regarded as one of the strongest sides around. They moved the ball quickly, pressed with intensity and punished us whenever we switched off. We struggled to get into the game and found ourselves chasing it for long periods against a side who played some excellent football. 👏

🔴⚪ Elburton Villa 0️⃣–5️⃣ Marine Academy Plymouth Football Club 🔵⚫️

The second half was a much more organised performance from Villa. Although Marine Academy continued to show their quality, the girls responded better, worked harder to stay in shape and looked far more disciplined than they had before the break. It was still a difficult afternoon, but there were signs of improvement and plenty of lessons that we can take into the weeks ahead. 💪

Results like this are never enjoyable, but they can often provide the biggest opportunities to learn. Today's game highlighted the standards we need to reach if we want to compete with the very best, and that's exactly why we arrange challenging pre-season fixtures.

We'll dust ourselves down, work hard on the training ground this week and come back stronger. One disappointing afternoon doesn't define this group, and it's now about how we respond. ❤️🤍
