Watch a toddler long enough and you'll see something amazing. When they get tired, they don't look for a chair. They squat. Deeply. Naturally. Perfectly.
This isn't learned. It's hardwired. Long before chairs existed, squatting was humanity's resting position. People cooked, harvested, gave birth, and rested on their heels for thousands of years.
Then came the chair. And the average adult now spends over nine hours a day sitting. Our hips are tight. Our balance is shaky. And the movement your body mastered before you could walk? It's gone.
That matters more than you think. Your legs house the biggest muscles in your body. Every time you use them, you're charging your entire metabolism. When you stop squatting, that furnace cools down, your muscles shrink, your joints stiffen, your balance fades, and the spiral begins. People go from "I don't squat much" to "I can't get up without help" faster than anyone expects.
I worked with a 57-year-old woman named Carla who avoided stairs and hadn't done a real squat in decades. We started with a kitchen counter squat. She stood at the sink, held the edge lightly, and sat back a few inches. That was day one. Six weeks later, she was doing full bodyweight squats and could get off the floor without help.
You don't need a gym. You need a sink, a wall, or a chair. The movement your body was designed for is still in there.

You asked for it and now I’m doing it. An evening Body conditioning class 🎉🙌🙌 Mondays at Walkhampton war memorial hall 6-7, commencing Feb 9th. A low impact, fun filled class designed to motivate you back into fitness. Optional equipment is used and it’s mixed ability so suitable for everyone.
