This October, the Plymouth Cheerleaders family is coming together for someone incredibly special to us.
Judy Gotham, one of our long-standing Dance Fit members, is facing breast cancer for the third time in less than four years. This time, it is triple-negative breast cancer.
Since her first diagnosis in 2022, Judy has endured surgeries, mastectomies, chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Yet, throughout everything she has faced, she has remained the Judy we all know and love—remarkably positive, determined, active and always thinking of others.
Judy has raised money for cancer charities, supported other people through their own diagnoses and helped establish a local cancer support group. She has continued to embrace life through running, pole fitness, Tough Mudder and sea swimming, inspiring so many people along the way.
Now, unbelievably, Judy must fight once again following a diagnosis of triple-negative breast cancer. This time, we want to be the ones standing firmly behind her.
All money raised through this fundraiser will be divided equally:
🎀 50% will be donated to Breast Cancer Now, helping to fund life-changing research and vital support for people affected by breast cancer.
🎀 50% will go directly to Judy, helping her create precious memories with her children and husband following everything they have faced together.
🖤🩷 HOW ARE WE FUNDRAISING? 🩷🖤
1️⃣ We are incredibly grateful to Plymouth Raiders Basketball Club for standing alongside our cheer family and supporting us in raising both awareness and funds for such an important cause. We will begin our fundraising at the Plymouth Raiders game on Sunday 11th October.
2️⃣ Our Elite Squad and Dance Fit group will also be taking on a series of special challenges—and the challenges will become increasingly difficult as our fundraising total rises! We will share the full challenge and fundraising milestones very soon.
3️⃣ As October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we will also be supporting Breast Cancer Now’s Wear It Pink campaign. During the week commencing 19th October, everyone attending a Plymouth Cheerleaders class will be invited to wear something pink in support, with a voluntary donation.
If you have a challenge you would like to see our Elite Squad or Dance Fit group attempt, let us know your ideas in the comments—we would love to hear them!
Every donation, no matter the amount, will help us support an incredible charity while showing Judy just how much her cheer family is behind her.
If you are unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser would also mean the world to us and could help it reach someone who can.
