Menโ€™s talking groups are brilliant. Giving blokes a safe space to open up, share their struggles and realise theyโ€™re not alone is incredibly important.โฃ
โฃ
But at RESET, we wanted to do something a little different.โฃ
โฃ
We wanted to get blokes A place where you can lift weights, improve your fitness, have a chat and support each other without pressure, judgement or the expectation that you have to talk about how you feel.โฃ
โฃ
Sometimes, just turning up is enough.โฃ
โฃ
And then thereโ€™s Friday night football.โฃ
โฃ
Instead of heading to the pub, we get together for a game. A bit of competition, plenty of banter, a few questionable tackles and a good laugh.โฃ
โฃ
For 60 minutes, the focus is on the football, the lads and enjoying yourself. The conversations happen naturally, and so does the support.โฃ
โฃ

โฃ
Nearly 30 blokes who were strangers to one another have come together to build something that feels more like a group of best mates.โฃ
โฃ
Lads who check in on each other.โฃ
Lads who offer advice, help and support.โฃ
Lads who are happy to receive that same support when they need it.โฃ
Lads who might never have crossed paths otherwise.โฃ
โฃ
Nobody has to pretend theyโ€™ve got everything figured out. Nobody needs to put on a front.โฃ
โฃ
We lift together. We play together. We laugh together. And when life gets difficult, we know weโ€™ve got people in our corner.โฃ
โฃ
Because we believe
It needs responsibility. It needs positive steps forward. It needs connection, purpose and something to look forward to.โฃ
โฃ
That doesn't mean pretending life is always good or that exercise fixes everything. It means creating an environment where blokes can take positive action, build relationships and know they don't have to face everything alone.โฃ
โฃ
That's what we've tried to build with RESET FC.โฃ
โฃ
A brotherhood built on movement, mutual respect, a bit of sweat, plenty of banter and genuine support.โฃ

Happy World Mental Health Day from everyone at RESET FC. โšฝ๏ธ

How many times do you respond to the question "Hey, you ok?" with "Good thanks, you?"

We say it even when we're not.

It's a default or automatic response.

Or is it that we can't bring ourselves to say anything other than that?

Is it because we don't want to make the situation awkward?

Maybe we fear what the other person's reaction might be if we're not good.

Perhaps it's a time thing - reply that all is well and everyone can continue on their way, say that it's not and then what?

Do any of us have time to not be okay?

Yet, what might the consequences be if we keep it all inside?

And if the shoe was on the other foot, would you know what to say or do if the person you exchanged pleasantries with actually turned around and replied: "No, not really"?

Do you ever walk away from someone and question the tone of their response or reaction to being asked?

Each day we ask and answer that question.

Every day at least one person we will have that exchange with will respond with a lie.

It may even be us.

We need to recognise in ourselves and others the signs of not being okay.

We need to feel able to answer the question truthfully when asked if we are okay and we need to not be afraid to hear an answer of "not really".

We need to be mindful and have awareness of how our loved ones, friends and colleagues respond to us and we have to feel empowered to take action to support them and ourselves when things are not okay.

On this yearโ€™s World Mental Health Day, how would you really answer the question: Are you okay?

๐Ÿงธ๐Ÿงธ๐ŸงธTEDDY BEAR APPEAL ๐Ÿงธ๐Ÿงธ๐Ÿงธ

This year, as part of our 2026 Christmas Campaign Wolseley Trust will be supporting Plymouth City Councilโ€™s โ€˜Teddy Bear Appealโ€™

With more than 540 children and young people currently in Plymouth's care, this appeal will hopefully enable every one of them to have the opportunity to receive a brand new bear of their own to provide comfort, reassurance and something to hold onto during a difficult and uncertain time.

We are delighted that The Jan Cutting Healthy Living Centre Wellbeing Hub will be an official collection point for teddy bear donations. All we ask is that all bears are brand new and that you give them a label with their own special name chosen by you, as a personal touch for the child or young person who receives it.

We are open to receive donations from Mon-Fri 8-5pm at The Jan Cutting Healthy Living Centre, Scott Business Park, Beacon Park, Plymouth. PL2 2PQ,

Please email [email protected] or call 07305052575 if you need to make arrangements for drop offs outside of these times.

Every week, the wonderful Dave Bike (not his real surname ๐Ÿ˜‰) shares a joke with his fellow members, during a Wellbeing Gym Session.

They never fail in putting smiles on faces, so weโ€™ve decided weโ€™re going to spread the joy further and share them on here!

Tell us what you think - how many stars are we giving this one?

During a recent Wellbeing Gym Session, I noticed one of our members reaching in to grab a clip from the box.

She held on to it all the way as she walked independently around the gym.

As a stroke survivor, she told me that for her carrying the clip helps to distract her from not having her walking stick in her hand.

Weโ€™re so proud of her and how far sheโ€™s come since starting with us โœจโœจ

Having a stroke can often mean the short term and/or long term loss of movement, coordination, balance, confidence etc.

Tasks that we take for granted in being able to do, can now come with their own challenges or difficulties. For the individual it may mean having to relearn skills or even find completely new ways to do things.

It takes a lot of hard work, commitment and courage to do this. Something our members, especially those attending our Wellbeing Gym Sessions, know all about.

We are a gym for the community, supported by a community and you can help us make a difference ๐Ÿ’™

A huge well done to L - youโ€™re amazing! โœจโœจโœจ
