Testimony time!!
Of all my current clients Simon has been training with me the longest. His goals have varied over the years, but He's never failed to give huge effort in our training sessions. He's not afraid to ask questions when necessary and he really has bought in to putting in the effort in his own time between our sessions.
Accountability is key with this extra work that clients put in and the last few years have really seen Simon take his application in this area to another level.
He's also shown great patience; for example in applying himself to technical areas of strength training which have benefitted from a lot of technique refinement over an extended period of time. Now that hard work is paying off!
And what's more I'd say we have fun doing it.
I'll let Simon say a bit about training with me:
'My name is Simon Allwood, I am 45 years old and I have been training with Joe for 13 years. I have been maintaining a regular gym routine of 3 to 4 training sessions a week since I was 23 but it was not until I met Joe that I started to really make progress towards my fitness goals. We have trained at several gym locations and in numerous outdoor settings, which has all added up to provide a varied exercise schedule that has always adapted to my needs and kept things fresh and engaging. He creates a very friendly atmosphere so that training somehow concurrently feels both relaxed and intense! Always willing to answer questions and provide advice; my understanding and appreciation of what I need to do have led to me achieving lifelong targets I thought I would never reach.'
Sometimes the first step to change is doing something which seems WAAAY too easy.
What do I mean?
You see a big end goal and that can dwarf the first step that needs to be taken.
It often dwarfs it to the point that so often the first step seems insignificant. So insignificant that you demean that fist step. You dont take that first step.
You might not even see that tiny first step as having any connection to the greater goal.
Make yourself comfortable with taking the action which is 'way too easy'.
Take the small action which might even seem 'beneath you'.
Why?
Because when you've done the small action, you've started your journey.
You're moving.
And that's the important thing.
Having some accountability, for example from a coach you trust, can bring these small actions into focus and give them context within the greater plan.
Get in touch if you're ready to make a change.
