The Fox has found his pack… 🦊

We're delighted to welcome our new number #4 to MAP Kings Whites for the 2026/27 campaign.

A naturally attacking player, he brings a different dimension to our forward play. Unselfish and intelligent in possession, he has a good understanding of when to pass, when to shoot and when to take a player on. His versatility across the attacking positions gives us another exciting option, while he's also capable of stepping in between the sticks when needed.

What has impressed us most is the progress he's made during his time with the Whites. His confidence, decision-making and attacking influence have continued to develop, particularly over his last few games, and he's shown the coaching team that he's ready to make the step into the squad.

One of the youngest players in the group, he is already committed to playing plenty of football and putting in additional training outside of his sessions with the Whites. That hunger for extra football and development is something we really value and will give him an excellent platform to keep improving.

Clever, unpredictable and always looking for an opening, the 🦊 Fox is a perfect fit.

We're delighted to welcome #4 to the Whites and can't wait to see his journey develop.

⚽️🩵🤍💙 MATCH REPORT | MAP KINGS WHITES U9s vs ACTIVATE U9s 🩵🤍💙⚽️

We rounded off our pre-season with a bang today with a friendly against Activate U9s - a strong and capable side and another excellent test for the boys ahead of the new season.

After a consistent period of slow starts in recent games, the primary focus today was to start fast, establish our shape and settle into the game early. The boys responded brilliantly, with a more defensive shape helping us stabilise, find our feet and build confidence before gradually progressing into a more attacking setup as the game developed.

🧠 #12 and 🧱 #5 both produced exceptionally well-taken free kicks, finding the top bins and giving us a fantastic start. Two superb strikes!

The boys also showed some excellent attacking football, with one-twos and triangles helping us retain possession and play around the opposition - exactly the type of movement and combination play we've been working on at training.

There was also some really unselfish team play, with goals created through excellent crosses and volleys, as well as players taking on one or two opponents before creating opportunities for teammates to finish.

Defensively, the boys worked hard to protect our goal and would have secured a clean sheet were it not for a rare scramble inside the area ending in an unfortunate fumble and own goal. These things happen in football, and overall the defensive organisation was another positive step forward.

The game highlighted the progress being made across pre-season, particularly in our ability to adapt our shape, combine with teammates and turn our training-ground work into match situations.

🧱 #5 takes Player of the Week after another outstanding performance from the back.

A solid, brave and fearless display, closing down opposition, competing for everything and taking several big knocks but bouncing straight back up each time.

He also capped his performance with a sublimely taken free kick into the top corner 🚀

A brilliant all-round performance from the Brick Wall!

The Whites now take a well-earned two-week break from training and matches to reset and recharge before the season begins on 5 September.

The hard work starts again soon. 💪

⚽️🤍ROUND ROBIN REPORT | MAP KINGS WHITES U9s 🤍⚽️

This morning the Whites faced another good pre season test playing in a round robin Vs Elburton, Goals and Drake.

Symptoms of a summer holiday early kick off and a slow start showed, with the boys struggling to grip the 1st game and create quality chances at goal.

After a reminder of what we have been working on over recent weeks, followed by instructions to forget the 1st game and move forward, the boys bounced back to the high standards that we know they can reach and played some lovely team football.

Convincing wins in the last two games against opposition we have previously had tight matches with really showed the reaction we wanted as coaches.

Passing and possession of the ball allowed the team to build up the pitch and create several chances in the last two games whilst limiting chances for the opposition.

The defensive work these boys also put in over the three games was outstanding with physical battles being won throughout the morning. It’s sometimes easy to forget these boys are playing older opposition as they are more than capable of holding their own 💪

#4 Trialist - A brilliant all round performance today. Battled hard to win the ball back, passed the ball well and linked to create chances for not only himself but team mates as well. He found the net three times, but one goal in particular needs mentioning - finishing off a lovely run down the wing with a cut back and shot across the goal and keeper finding the top corner.

This boy also recently celebrated his birthday 🎂 Happy birthday from the Whites family and coaching team.

After a recent runners up finish in a sponsorship competition the team also got presented sweets and drinks bottles at the end of the game by some of our mini mascots.

Preparation now moves onto next weekends friendly vs Activate.

We’d like to say a massive thank you to Strongdor Limited for sending over some lovely water bottles and sweets for our boys after they finished runners-up in their football sponsorship competition! 🏆👏

It was such a lovely surprise, and the boys were absolutely delighted with their goodies!

Thank you for supporting grassroots football and for thinking of our team, it really is appreciated!

⚽️🩵🤍💙 MATCH REPORT | MAP KINGS WHITES U9s vs MAP KINGS BLUES U9s 🩵🤍💙⚽️

We swapped our final training session before the summer break for a friendly against our friends at MAP Kings Blues U9s, giving the boys another opportunity to continue their pre-season preparations in a match environment.

It wasn't our day today, but that's grassroots football.

Credit to the blues, who were the better team and deserved the result. They played some excellent football and asked plenty of questions of us throughout the game.

We seemed to perform better the last time we met. This time, from the warm-up onwards, we looked a little flat, short of energy and struggled to find the intensity, focus and quality we've shown over recent weeks.

With families understandably away over the summer, busy days out and the boys enjoying the holidays, tiredness played its part. As the game wore on, a few of the boys understandably emptied the tank early and found it difficult to maintain the work rate, concentration and mentality we've come to expect from ourselves.

As coaches, we weren't happy with our overall performance today, but that's okay. Development isn't always linear, and not every game will be your best. Days like today often provide the biggest learning opportunities. We'll reflect honestly, take the lessons on board and come back stronger.

You either win or you learn.

The game highlighted several areas we'll continue to work on, particularly our intensity and movement without the ball, scanning and reacting quicker in transition, getting touch-tight to opponents and defending as a compact unit. By improving these areas, we'll become much harder to break down and better equipped to compete against strong opposition.

💪 #2 and ⚡ #8 shared Players of the Week today for giving everything they had. Henry almost put us ahead in the first minute with a long range strike rifled against the stanchion. Both emptied the tank, battled relentlessly to win the ball back, competed for every challenge and continued to work hard right until the final whistle.

A special mention also goes to 🛡️ #6 and 💎 #9 who once again demonstrated outstanding work rate, commitment and determination throughout.

The timing of the summer break is probably perfect. The boys have worked incredibly hard throughout pre-season and have earned the chance to recharge. We still have one tournament and a few friendlies to keep them ticking over before returning refreshed and ready for the season ahead.

Next up is our tournament next weekend, followed by another friendly for those available.

One game doesn't define this group. Today is just another step on the long journey ahead.
