Thought this might interest members of PPCA as from Plymouth LB Station and I joined Julie for the paddle
I have received a message from Julie Perren of TCC who is on an adventure paddling between the south west lifeboat stations this summer. You can see more detail on the appropriate page titled South West Sea Kayaking Adventure (https://www.facebook.com/search/top?q=south%20west%20sea%20kayaking%20adventure). This is in aid of the RNLI but also to improve the profile of sea kayakers (and help differentiate us from some under-equipped paddlers of SOTs and SUPs who are described in the press as "kayakers" requiring rescues).
She is planning to paddle from Salcombe to Plymouth on Monday or Tuesday next week and would be happy for any "hard core" company. I would love to go but am not sufficiently paddle fit at present but open to others.
You can get in touch via the page or let me know.
Happy paddling, Adam

Dear PPCA members,
The current situation surrounding Covid-19 keeps evolving and I and the committee wanted to update you on our response so far, and what to expect from us over the coming months. Due to the current guidelines it is with a very heavy heart that the committee has had to make the very difficult decision to stop ALL club activities with immediate effect until April 30th at the earliest, or until Government advice changes. This is in order to conform to both the Government guidance to limit unnecessary contact and the British Canoeing guidance – I have attached this link below if you wish to view the full BC statement.
https://www.britishcanoeing.org.uk/news/2020/british-canoeing-coronavirus-guidance-for-clubs
While it is still important to remain active and get exercise where possible and safe to do so as per the Government guidelines, we feel this delay of our summer programme is necessary to protect all our members and their families. While we know that this will come as a great disappointment, we are sure you will not be surprised and hope that you understand our decision.
The club shed will remain closed during this time, although key holders will still be able to access the members shed if you wish to use your boats. If you are a member with a boat and wish to embark on peer paddles that is your choice, but please organise this outside of club platforms such as Facebook and the forum. Please keep up to date with Mountbatten Centre opening times and updates, they are currently open but running a skeleton crew.
https://www.mount-batten-centre.com/ (updates at bottom of page)
Any current bookings for pool sessions can be postponed (we will hold your booking for as long as you need) or cancelled and refunded - whatever you would prefer.
We all appreciate your support, and it is our hope that we can pull together as a club at this difficult time and help our fellow paddlers, and where safe offer our support to those who need assistance. We will get through this, and we are sure that once we get back on the water it will be all the sweeter!!
The committee will continue working hard to ensure we can do the best for our club and members. We will continue to hold our monthly meetings (remotely!) to discuss and plan for the coming months. We will continue to keep you up to date with any developments, and will strive to keep you entertained and inspired for the time when we can all get back in our boats and on the water as the thriving, happy and amazing community we are!
Keep safe, keep smiling and keep in touch!
