As we mark Sensei Lesโ€™s birthday today, I thought it would be a fitting time to share the final photographs from his album.

These are the remaining photos from the album that Sensei Les kindly lent me. There are certainly many more photographs of the club and its members out there that I could get a hold of, but these are the final ones from the album he gave me to look through.

Iโ€™m glad Iโ€™ve been able to preserve and share these photographs, and I hope everyone enjoys looking through this final collection and remembering some of the people and moments from the clubโ€™s history.

JKA England Southwest Regional Course โ€“ Bath University

A fantastic day of training at the JKA England Southwest Regional Course at Bath University, led by Ohta Sensei, 8th Dan, and Sensei Gary Stewart, 7th Dan.

For our club, it was myself and Isla who were able to make the course, and it was particularly special for Isla. This September marks one year since starting her Karate journey, and she has made some fantastic improvements in that time.

This was Isla's first JKA England course, giving her valuable experience of training in a larger group and alongside karateka from other clubs. A great experience and another milestone in her development.

A big thank you to our Southwest Regional Representative, Sensei Trevor Byrne, for organising the course, and to Ohta Sensei and Sensei Gary for an excellent day's training.

Unfortunately, I didn't manage to get any photos during the training, but I'll share some event photos when they become available.

Well done Isla! Here's to the next year of your Karate journey! ๐ŸŽ‰

This week we focused on mawashi-geri (roundhouse kick), working on both technique and power.
Using the Kick paddles for focusing on control, accuracy, speed and good technique.
Then the thicker Kick pads for putting more power into the technique and getting used to striking with commitment.
A great session developing the ability to kick with control when needed, and power when required.
Well done all. ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Back to Training!

September is here, and itโ€™s great to see so many of our students back training properly after the summer holidays.

Although we continued to hold regular training sessions throughout the summer, September marks the return to normal routines for many of our students, and the dojo is already feeling busy again ๐ŸŽ‰

One-leg balance drills using the balance ball. These exercises challenge stability, posture, core strength and body control, all of which are essential for strong Karate technique. And they're super fun!

Well done to everyone who gave it a go. Some great effort on display! ๐Ÿ‘Š
