Five types of prana are responsible for various pranic activities in the body, they are Prana, Apana, Vyan, Udana & Samana. Out of these Prana and Apana are most important. Prana is upward flowing and Apana is downward flowing. Practice of Pranayama achieves the balance in the activities of these pranas, which results in healthy body and mind.
We are here to discuss the relevance of yoga in our day to day lives. I would like to make it very clear that yoga does not come into the category of either a science (although people today, including me, think of yoga as a science) or a religion (although people believe it to be a part of the Hindu system) or a spiritual practice. For me science is global, religion is social, and spirituality is personal and universal.
Hatha Yoga also talks about 8 types of pranayama which will make the body and mind healthy.
1.Quiet Breathing
2.Deep Breathing
3.Fast Breathing
4.Tribandha and Pranayama
5.Nadi Shuddhi Pranayama or Anuloma - Viloma (Alternate nostril breathing - I)
6.Suryan Bhedan Pranayama (Right Nostril Breathing)
7.Ujjayi Pranayama
8.Bhramari Pranayama
