League Cup comes to an end for the boys with an away defeat to Rossvale, who came out on top in this encounter with a 3-1 victory.

Unfortunately, the boys didn’t get off to the best of starts, conceding very early in the game to go 1-0 down. Heads dropped and we found ourselves up against it from the outset.

The Gairdoch boys pushed hard to get themselves back into the game and thought they had found an equaliser, only for the goal to be ruled out following a decision that could have gone either way. After having that effort denied, we unfortunately conceded a second goal shortly afterwards.

The boys came flying out of the blocks in the second half and began to apply real pressure on the opposition. Their efforts were rewarded when Elliot #11 finished brilliantly to pull a goal back and give us a real lifeline in the game.

Continuing to push for an equaliser, the boys created three or four clear-cut chances and were unfortunate not to find the back of the net, even hitting the upright with one of their efforts.

Fair play to Rossvale, who absorbed the pressure well throughout the second half and managed to deny our best efforts to get back into the game. They went on to score a third goal to seal the victory.

Unfortunately, neither team managed to secure a place in the League Cup semi-finals, but we would like to wish Rossvale the very best of luck for the season ahead.

Another League Cup victory for the boys! 💛🖤

The boys went into their fourth League Cup game on a high following Saturday’s win and secured another fantastic victory.

With the weather and strong winds having such an adverse effect on the game, it was always going to be a tough test. However, the boys showed great determination, persisted throughout and executed the game plan brilliantly.

Overall, it was a real back-and-forth match that could have gone either way, with both teams fighting hard all over the pitch.

On the stroke of half-time, continuous pressure and persistence paid off. Gregor #9 challenged for the ball, won possession and charged through on goal before finding the back of the net to put Gairdoch Blacks 1-0 up! ⚽️🔥

Into the second half, the wind continued to play its part and we had to ride our luck at times, with the opposition striking the crossbar from range. Our goalkeeper Cooper #1 was also called into action, pulling off some excellent and challenging saves to keep his side in front. 🧤

The game continued to hang in the balance, with both teams giving everything and battling hard until the final whistle.

Brooklyn H #18 then showed off his abundance of blistering pace 😮‍💨⚡️, taking to his heels and leaving the opposition behind as he found himself clean through one-on-one with the keeper. Unfortunately, the keeper pulled off a magnificent save to keep his team in with a chance.

A great effort from all the boys tonight! 💪

🖤💛 FULL TIME | GAIRDOCH UNITED BLACKS 3–1 HARESTANES 💛🖤

After a tough midweek League Cup match, the boys well and truly bounced back today with a fantastic 3–1 victory over Harestanes! 👏⚽️

From the very first whistle, the boys showed incredible character, hunger, fight and desire. Their willingness to run, work for each other and put immense pressure on the opposition allowed them to take control of the game and ultimately the result. 💪

The boys took an early 1–0 lead when Brooklyn #15 played a pinpoint ball over the top, finding Max #7, who showed great composure to calmly slot the ball past the keeper. ⚽️

The pressure continued, and the boys soon doubled their advantage. A great ball from Gregor #9 found Brooklyn #15, who produced a brilliant first-time volley finish to make it 2–0! 🔥

After the amount of running and work the boys had put in throughout the game, the opposition managed to pull one back with a long-range effort, making it 2–1.

However, this didn’t affect the boys or knock them out of their stride. They continued to focus on their own game, showing the right attitude and mindset to carry out the tasks set by the coaches. 👏

Deep into the second half, Gregor #9 sealed the victory with an absolute screamer from well outside the box after charging down the ball! 🚀⚽️ What a finish!

After today’s performance, every single player deserves a huge pat on the back for their effort and commitment. A special mention must also go to Max, Elliot, Brooklyn W and Ferris, whose contributions and performances were nothing short of outstanding! 👏

🏅 Ref’s Man of the Match deservedly goes to Harry #4 for his leadership and the way he commanded the back line throughout the game. A fantastic performance! 👏

The standards have now been set. 💪🖤💛

The boys go again on Tuesday as we take on Stenhousemuir in the fourth League Cup match! ⚽️

⚽ FULL-TIME | LEAGUE CUP 🏆

The boys got off to a flyer and started the game on the front foot, taking an early 1-0 lead.

A superb free kick from Brooklyn (No.15) provided the assist for Harry (No.4), who made no mistake and calmly slotted the ball past the keeper. 👏⚽

We continued to dictate the play and create opportunities, but a poor defensive clearance allowed the opposition back into the game.

However, the boys responded brilliantly. Brooklyn (No.15) picked up his second assist of the game with a fantastic ball over the top, allowing Gregor (No.9) to show great composure and lob the keeper to put us 2-1 up. 🔥

After dominating much of the first half, we unfortunately conceded an equaliser just before the break. Poor decision-making in the final third allowed the opposition to launch a brilliant counter-attack, leaving the game all square at half-time.

The opposition came out in the second half with plenty of fight and hunger and went on to dominate the second period, scoring some good goals to eventually take the game 5-2.

Despite the result, there were plenty of positives to take from the first half and moments of really good football from the boys. 💪

⭐ Special mention to Cooper (No.1), who pulled off some fantastic saves, keeping out 4/5 big chances and helping to keep the scoreline respectable. 🧤👏

TOTAL ECLIPSE ON THE PITCH 🌒⚽️

It was an unsettled start for the boys today against Gartcairn, conceding an early goal and finding themselves on the back foot.

But the boys showed great character. They lifted their heads, rallied together and fought hard to get themselves back into the game. The determination, teamwork and never-give-up attitude really showed as the game went on. 💪⚽️

A great effort from the whole team — proud of every single one of them for battling right until the final whistle! 👏🖤

A massive thank you to Gartcairn for a great friendly and for a competitive game 🤝⚽️ We wish you all the very best of luck for the league season ahead! 💙

A great first run-out for the boys after a long summer break. It was fantastic to see everyone back out on the pitch, with plenty of effort, energy and some great passages of football throughout the game.

There are lots of positives to take from today’s performance as the boys continue to build match fitness and get back into the rhythm of playing together. Most importantly, the attitude, teamwork and desire were there from start to finish.
