What river do you need to cross to get closer to your goal? You could wade, swim or sail of course but the waters may be choppy or shark infested. A bridge is safer and quicker. Who can lead you over the bridge?

The door is open but will you step over the threshold? I am fascinated by views like this one that I took at Tintagel Castle. I really like the metaphors around change, courage and possibility. Would you go through the door and down the steep steps hugging the cliff side down to the sea? What if I told you it was the way to the cafe and a Cornish cream tea? What if it was the only way out? Do you need no other reason than to see what’s on the other side?

Change, courage and possibility. What is on the other side of your door? Is it open, ajar, or are you yet to find the key?

Change is part of life. Sometimes it’s slow and creeps up and envelops you unnoticed. Other times it’s fast like a jolt from nowhere. A sudden and unexpected change can be uncomfortable and disorientating. It cuts to the core of your life’s purpose, beliefs and values. It questions your motives and seems to offer only a new world of uncertainty.

Change happens slowly too, just like these cliffs in Perranport Cornwall. These amazing rock formations have taken millennia to become what we can see today. We will never see them change, yet every day an imperceptible change has taken place. Because of this, it is easy to take for granted that they will always be here.

Like the rock formations our lives are fragile. The cliffs could crumble at any moment and what we have taken for granted can be swept away. And yet along with the destruction comes a window onto a new horizon, a new and unfamiliar horizon with an as yet undiscovered beauty.

When you look along and through the rocks what do you see? What new horizon awaits your own journey of discovery? Change will happen, take control and forge your own path. Dream-Dare-Do.

The difference between a w**d and a flower is your perception. Both are beautiful when you see them for what (or who) they are.

Every step no matter how small, takes you closer to where and who you want to be.
