It was BRILLIANT seeing some of our juniors sailors (and their parents!) out racing at the club yesterday.

Club racing happens twice a week, all season. It’s included in your club membership (so no extra to pay!) and it a fantastic way to get out and practice your skills, race against different boats and challenge the adult members for their positions on the leaderboard. You can be super competitive (we have some very experienced racers in the club) or you can just come for fun.

We especially love it when our junior sailors bring their parents along to either race against or with (try one of the club double handers). What a fab way to spend a Sunday afternoon. ⛵️

We all had lots of fun out on the water today. We held our first Junior Saturday Skills session this morning.

13 junior sailors were out in a mixture of Toppers and Fevas. They were joined on the water by several of their parents who took the opportunity of a social sailing session being run alongside.

It was lovely to see 16 boats on the water on a Saturday morning. Great job all! 💪⛵️

Another busy weekend coming up for members at LLSC.

On Saturday morning we have the first of our autumn Junior Saturday Skills sessions. It will be great for our instructors to work with our junior sailors (stage 2+) for a bit longer than they are able to during our regular Thursday Junior Sailing Club. Book asap if you haven’t already!

Alongside the Junior Skills sessions, we will also be running social sailing for adults. This week there will be coaching available if required. Book your place and a club boat if you need one.

On Sunday we have the last of this years Junior Takeovers. This is club racing, run by the junior coaching team. We welcome all of our junior sailors who have achieved RYA Stage 3+ to come along and have a go. We also encourage any adults who haven’t tried racing yet to join in. We have extra safety boats out and instructors on the course to offer help and advice.

Hope to see you all there! What better way to make going back to school easier than having a fun weekend on the water. ⛵️

Our Thursday Junior Sailing Club has sadly drawn to a close for the year. But we saw it out in style yesterday with our first ever End of Summer Fun Day!

The afternoon started with junior sailors and lots of instructors paying games on the water - musical sailing statues and smugglers and customs! Then in for a picnic tea before launching for an evening of arena style races. The wind was perfect, the sun came out, the sailors were launched (avoiding the islands that are just starting to appear), everyone arrived on the race course……then thunder stopped play.

We were all super impressed with the organisation and speed the coaches and sailors got everyone ashore and safely inside. Excellent team work!

The fab Assistant Instructors took over at this point and played games with the sailors, including a very loud and competitive Rock, Paper, Scissors tournament!

But I think everyone would agree that the highlight of the day was the water fight (once the storm had safely passed). Any rules that the instructors tried to enforce (1. Don’t shoot the instructors) went very quickly out the window, resulting in Rhys P (‘Little Rhys’) having to change into PJs to drive home! I also have it on good authority that Rhys R (‘Big Rhys’) is already looking to upgrade his super soaker for next year!

Thank you all for joining us for our first Fun Day. We already have next years on the calendar.

have travelled to Bala this weekend for the RYA Cymru Wales Onboard Championships.

Day one began with no wind so a quick dip was had, followed by a jumbo SUP race!

The wind has now arrived and everyone is on the water. Good luck team! ⛵️

Look at our brilliant junior sailors battling the elements!

For last nights Junior Sailing Club the focus was on strong wind sailing and speed control.

Great job sailors! ⛵️

And as soon as sailing was over, the packing up of boats began to make the trip to the Onboard Festival in Bala this weekend. Good luck team!
