🎉 CELEBRATING OUR FIRST CLUB ANNIVERSARY! 🎉

A year ago we opened the doors to Pontypridd Shotokan Karate Club for our very first session.

Our aim was simple — to create a friendly, welcoming club in Pontypridd where people could train traditional Shotokan karate and develop their skills.

One year later, we're incredibly proud of what we've built. We've welcomed complete beginners, developed our higher-grade students, celebrated gradings, competed, trained hard and watched confidence and ability grow throughout the club.

A huge diolch / thank you to our students, parents, families and everyone who has supported us during our first year. ❤️

We're also proud to be members of the Welsh Karate Collective and part of the wider karate community.

Great energy in the dojo tonight!

Tonight’s focus was on defence and countering — working on movement, reactions and finding the right moment to respond. 👊

We finished by putting it into practice with some sparring, with a few added challenges and restrictions to keep everyone thinking, adapting and having fun! 😅🔥

Loads of effort, plenty of smiles and some really good karate on display. Well done everyone!

We teach traditional Shotokan karate in a friendly and welcoming dojo, with a mix of beginners and experienced karateka training together and developing at their own pace.

Our Tuesday class is currently full, but we're now taking names for a waiting list as we explore the possibility of opening an additional class.

It might seem like a small thing, but for a growing local club it makes a huge difference in helping people find us and discover karate in Pontypridd.
