With this lovely heatwave continuing, we had a super chilled sesh with our Pioneers this week - Knots and fancy rope work. Pioneers are our teen Homeed group ages 13-16. 🪢

Adopted a new admin policy today. +30 degrees = admin in the cold plunge 😎🛁

Another incredible week of Alternative Provision mentoring with Leighton! 🌿🎣🔥

Every week is packed with new challenges, new experiences and real opportunities to build confidence, resilience and independence and this week was no exception.

Here’s what we’ve been up to:

🔥 Survival Skills & Campfire Cooking – We put our bushcraft skills to the test before cooking delicious, gooey chocolate brownies over the campfire. A brilliant way to develop patience, teamwork, problem-solving and confidence around fire safety.

🌳 Giving Back to Our Woodland – Leighton helped tackle essential site maintenance, cutting back the “bramble snakes” to keep our woodland safe for everyone. Taking responsibility for real jobs builds pride, teamwork and a strong work ethic.

🎮 Community Connections – We headed to Poole Park for a Pokémon GO adventure, joining other local players for raids and meeting members of the wider community. These shared experiences are fantastic for developing communication skills, social confidence and positive community engagement.

🎣 Fishing Success – We finished the week fishing along Poole Quay, and it’s safe to say Leighton is becoming a real expert! Fishing continues to be a fantastic way to encourage patience, focus, emotional regulation and perseverance, skills that transfer into everyday life.

This is what Alternative Provision is all about: learning through meaningful experiences, building relationships, developing life skills and creating opportunities for young people to thrive.

We can’t wait to see what next week brings! 💪🌲

We found this little fella struggling onsite. We don’t think he is very well. Can anyone help us figure out what’s up with him?
We found his borrow and left him there covered over but he keeps heading back to our Shack above ground. Worries he’s going to get trampled.

Now this is mentoring. 💚

Another incredible week of with Leighton, and another reminder that the right support can make all the difference.

This week has been packed with opportunities to build confidence, independence and resilience through real-life experiences:

🎣 We visited the fishing shop so Leighton could choose his very own tackle box and everything he needed before his first fishing trip.

🚜 He learnt to mow the grass on the ride-on mower and took real pride in the job.

🏹 He joined two archery and team-building sessions, developing new skills while building friendships and confidence alongside other young people.

🐟 Yesterday we headed to Whitemoor Lakes, where Leighton went fishing for the very first time… and landed an absolute whopper! The smile on his face said it all.

Along the way we’ve had meaningful conversations about emotional regulation, making positive choices, keeping safe, and believing in himself.

At its heart, alternative provision isn’t about keeping young people busy. It’s about helping them reconnect with learning, build self-esteem, develop life skills, and experience success in ways that truly matter.

Weeks like this are why we do what we do. We’re incredibly proud of everything Leighton has achieved.
