🐟 SOMETHING FISHY IS HAPPENING IN HAMPSHIRE…
We’re used to waterproofing some pretty interesting spaces at WestWood, but this latest project is certainly a little different! 👀
We’ll soon be getting to work at a fish farm in Hampshire, waterproofing a series of holding tanks using our Wecryl 230 tanking system.
The tanks will be drained and thoroughly dried before the system is applied, helping to keep water levels exactly where they need to be - and the fish happily in their plaice. 🐟💚
Another unusual application, and a great example of just how versatile our waterproofing technology can be.
Keep watching with “baited” breath for updates as the project gets underway… 🎣
We’ll get our coats. 🧥😂

👷♂️⚽ Taking Daddy Daycare to another level!
It was great to have some extra help in the WestWood office during the summer holidays, with Adam Tafner, son of WestWood’s Dave Tafner, joining us for the day! 👏
Taking a break from his training for the new season with WestWood-sponsored Morley Rangers, Adam was keen to get involved and experience a little of what his Dad gets up to day-to-day.
He got stuck in, helped out with a CPD session and enjoyed meeting the WestWood team and seeing what goes on behind the scenes.
Of course, we couldn’t let our newest apprentice leave empty-handed… Adam went home with some WestWood merch to proudly represent the company! 💚👕
A great day of learning, teamwork and maybe the beginning of a future career with WestWood? 😉
Well done, Adam - you’re welcome back anytime!

🐾☕ A special visitor at our coffee morning!
Earlier this week, we had a very special guest join us for one of our weekly coffee mornings - Russell’s newest recruit, Wispa! 🐶
Wispa was extremely well behaved and was a big hit around the office. He’s currently undergoing training to become a therapy dog, and if his visit was anything to go by, he’s already doing a fantastic job! 💚
We’re looking forward to seeing more of Wispa as his training continues. Who knows, he might just become a regular at our coffee mornings! 🐾☕

🎉 11 YEARS OF KEN RUSSELL! 💚
Another year, another milestone - and today we’re celebrating the one and only Ken Russell as he marks an incredible 11 years with WestWood! 👏
Over the years, Ken has become a hugely valued part of the team, bringing bags of experience, technical know-how and, of course, plenty of cheeky banter along the way! 😄
Whether he’s tackling challenges on site, sharing his knowledge, winding up the team or simply keeping everyone entertained, Ken’s commitment and personality continue to make a real difference.
11 years of hard work, loyalty, laughs and plenty of WestWood memories along the way!
A massive thank you, Ken, for everything you continue to bring to the team - we wouldn’t have you any other way! 💚
Here’s to year 12… and hopefully no slowing down on the cheeky comments! 🥂😄

💚 WISHING GILL A VERY HAPPY RETIREMENT!
After a decade of dedication to WestWood, the time has come for our Financial Controller, Gill, to close the spreadsheets, step away from the numbers and begin a very well-earned retirement.
Over the past ten years, Gill has been an important part of the WestWood team, sharing in the challenges, changes and successes along the way. Her commitment, hard work and support have been hugely valued, and while we know she doesn’t want a big fuss, we couldn’t let such a milestone pass without saying a very big THANK YOU. 💚
We’ll let Gill have the final word:
“WestWood has been a big part of my life for the past decade. I’ve seen some comings and goings over the years and now it’s my time to go.
I will miss you all and the trials, tribulations, and triumphs that we have all been through over the years.
I wish WestWood and all who sail in her the very best for the future.
It’s been a privilege working with each and every one of you.”
From everyone at WestWood, thank you, Gill, for everything you’ve given to the business over the past decade.
We wish you a long, happy and thoroughly well-deserved retirement. Enjoy every minute of it! 🥂👏💚

🏙️ Another city. Another brilliant Specifi event.
This time, Luis Ramos and Victoria Ramwell were in London for another fantastic day of conversations with architects, specifiers and businesses from across the industry. 👏
With a huge variety of projects being discussed, it was a great opportunity to hear about the challenges facing today’s designs - and explore how WestWood’s innovative waterproofing technology can help solve them. 💚
That’s what makes events like Specifi so valuable. We get to share our knowledge, showcase what our systems can do and, just as importantly, listen and learn from the people shaping the built environment.
Plenty of great conversations, exciting opportunities and new connections made.
Now for the follow-ups! 🚀

🇩🇪 From the UK to Petershagen - and straight into the action! 💚
We recently had the pleasure of welcoming guests from Ellis Belk and Watts Holt to WestWood’s laboratory and factory facility in Germany for a closer look at what goes into our systems.
From our latest car park build-ups to our pioneering low-odour technology, there was plenty to see - but this wasn’t just a tour. 👀
Rollers at the ready, our guests got hands-on with the materials themselves, experiencing first-hand the products, application techniques and skill that go into delivering a quality WestWood installation. 💪
A brilliant visit, great conversations and another opportunity to strengthen the relationships that make what we do even better.
A huge thank you to everyone at Ellis Belk and Watts Holt who joined us - we’re already looking forward to the next one! 👏

🚗 Before you specify the solution, understand the surface.
When it comes to car park refurbishment, what’s happening beneath the system matters just as much as what goes on top.
During a recent survey, the WestWood team carried out pull-off adhesion testing to determine whether the existing concrete deck was suitable for direct overlay.
Following preparation, Wecryl 821 Pre Primer was applied to close the concrete capillaries, minimise potential outgassing and create a strong structural bond with the substrate. PMMA resin-bonded dollies were then put to the test. 💪
The result? Bond strengths that comfortably exceeded the minimum requirement - confirming the concrete was suitable for direct overlay. ✅
It’s a relatively simple test that can make a huge difference to the specification.
Because when long-term performance matters, you don’t guess what’s beneath the surface - you test it. 💚

🔍 The right specification starts before the system is even chosen.
On this project, the WestWood team was called in to survey an existing FPO single-ply membrane roof - and rather than making assumptions, we put the options to the test.
Three trial areas. Three different combinations of preparation and primer. One clear objective - establish exactly what works best for this roof. 💚
Because every existing substrate brings its own challenges. Taking the time to test adhesion, assess preparation requirements and understand the existing system means we can build the specification around what the project actually needs.
No guesswork. No one-size-fits-all approach.
Just proper due diligence, informed specification and a waterproofing solution designed to perform. 💪
Test. Assess. Specify with confidence.
