It is with sadness that we have to inform you our team mate Steve Sharkey has passed away.
The Shark, as he was known to us at Dexter Sports Walking Football Club, brought a sense of fun to our sessions. Alongside this was his belief that he could share his knowledge of the game with any group he was involved with and his voice could always be heard on Friday evenings.
The Shark faced his prognosis in the manner you would expect from him, acceptance but a determination to carry on doing what he loved as long as he could.
He was a much respected figure in local football, working with many of the best non league teams in the area. Right up till the end he was an important member of the coaching and management team at Hamworthy Recreation.
He'll be sadly missed. We send our condolences to his family.
