You haven't stopped wanting to be strong. You've just stopped being sold it.
So here it is, plainly. Train for the things you actually want. Stronger, sharper, better on the course, harder to stop, in a private studio with someone paying full attention. No lectures about your age. Just the good version of the work.

You still want to get down to Parkstone and smash your drive further than your mates.
Quietly competitive, under whatever you say about your age. That's the good stuff, and it's the bit the "manage your decline" crowd completely miss. One of the people I train put it simply: he comes for the consistency, the sessions focused and efficient, with room for a bit of conversation along the way.

Over 40, in Poole, and tired of the careful version.
There's a private studio at 1 Victoria Road for exactly that. Proper training built around what you want to be good at, not a watered-down circuit for your age bracket. Strong, challenging, and a fair bit more fun than the word "sensible" suggests.
Come and see it. Message to arrange a time.

You'd quite like to outlift the 25-year-old. And you're not going to admit it.
You don't have to. It's a good instinct and I'm not going to talk you out of it. We train for the things you actually want. Stronger, sharper, better on the golf course, harder to knock over. The "gentle exercise for your age" script stays where it belongs. You've earned the proper version.
Come and train for what you actually want.

You came to get stronger, not to be looked after.
The session should be built around movements you actually want to do, loaded properly, music up, hard enough to be worth your time. I'm accurate about how you move because I have to be. That's the bit that keeps you in one piece. The rest is meant to be a good session, not a gentle one.
Come and have one. Message me to arrange it.
You still want the strong version of this. The funny one.
I wrote this week about why where you train matters. A private studio isn't the point on its own. It's the room, the kit, the right music and someone actually watching, so the session is challenging instead of cautious. That's what builds strength, not the privacy by itself.

Somewhere along the way the training got sold to you as sensible.
The verbs got smaller as you got older. Stay mobile, protect the joints, age well. None of that is what you actually came for. The want is the same as it always was. The only thing that changed is who's willing to train you like it's still there.

My view on motivation: most of it is noise.
He's got a Sergeant Dom mode, ready to pop out and shout for the client who genuinely wants that. Mostly, he stays well away from it. The sessions that work aren't the loud ones. They're the ones where your music's on, there's a bit of joking around, and you lose track of time. The results almost turn up as a second benefit.
For twelve years, some of his clients have trained with him. You don't stay that long for the shouting.
