Port Glasgow Juniors Amateur CSC produced a composed and clinical display to secure a 3-0 home win over Milgavie, controlling key moments in both halves and executing the game plan effectively.
First Half
The opening 20 minutes were tight, with both sides testing each other’s shape. Port Glasgow found their rhythm and a patient build-up through midfield created the opening. Quick one-touch passing on the right flank drew Milgavie’s defence out of position, and a weighted through ball released John Paterson in behind. Paterson took one touch to steady himself before placing a low finish into the bottom corner past the onrushing keeper.
Milgavie responded well and carved out two half-chances before the break, one from a wide free kick and another following a turnover in midfield. The Port backline held firm, with centre-backs and goalkeeper dealing confidently with crosses and second balls.

Second Half
Port Glasgow returned with intent and pressed higher up the pitch. The pressure paid off when a foul on the edge of the area gave the Port a dangerous set-piece opportunity. John Paterson stepped up and struck a low, driven free kick around the wall and into the far corner, leaving the keeper with no chance. 2-0.
The goal prompted Milgavie to commit more players forward, and they enjoyed their best spell. The visitors retained possession and forced the Port into a deeper defensive block, creating a few corners and one effort that was blocked on the line.
Port Glasgow regrouped and slowed the tempo, using the midfield three to recycle possession and switch play. This adjustment created space wide, and the Port earned three consecutive corners. The third was decisive: JP Dow delivered a well-placed cross which came back to him when he crossed a ball into the six yard box where Kenny McKenzie directed the ball goalward. The ball crossed the line amid some uncertainty over final contact. VEO footage will clarify the scorer, but the goal stood and extended the lead to 3-0.
The closing stages saw the Port manage the game professionally, retaining possession and limiting Milgavie to long ball tactics.
