Everyone at Portadown Rugby Football Club is absolutely heartbroken for Charlie Jamison’s family and for everyone at Ballynahinch RFC following the devastating news of his sudden passing.

Our deepest thoughts and condolences are first and foremost with Charlie’s family and loved ones. No family should ever have to experience a loss like this, and we can only imagine the heartbreak they are facing.

We are also thinking of Charlie’s teammates, coaches, friends, members and the entire Ballynahinch RFC community. A rugby club is more than a team, it is a family, and when one club suffers such a devastating loss, the wider rugby community feels it too.

Today, club colours and rivalries mean nothing. We stand together as one rugby family, sending all our love, strength and support to Charlie’s family and to everyone at Ballynahinch RFC in the difficult days ahead.

We are truly heartbroken for you all.

Rest in peace, Charlie. Taken far too soon and never forgotten.

2nd XV Manager | David Rainey

David Rainey returns for his fourth season as 2nd XV Manager, continuing the outstanding contribution he has made to the squad over the past three years.

David’s impact goes far beyond the organisation of matchdays. His commitment, reliability and attention to detail are matched by his ability to bring people together, support players and create an environment where everyone feels valued.

His first-class man management has become a hugely important part of the 2nd XV setup, helping to build a strong team culture both on and off the pitch.

Much of what David does happens behind the scenes, but his influence is felt throughout the squad. His dedication to the players and the club is something we are incredibly grateful for.

We’re delighted to have David back for another season and look forward to seeing the continued impact he will have on the 2nd XV.

2nd XV Coach | Paul Galway

Back for season two!

Paul Galway returns to the 2nd XV coaching team, once again working alongside David and bringing a huge amount of rugby knowledge, experience and passion with him.

After many years representing the club as a player, Paul knows exactly what it means to wear the jersey, compete for the badge and set the standards expected at Portadown RFC.

Now, he’s putting that experience straight back into the squad helping develop players, sharpen performances and pass on everything he’s learned throughout his playing career.

A massive asset to the 2nd XV setup and we’re delighted to have him back for another season.

It’s a great chance for the girls to get valuable game time, put their pre-season work into practice and continue building ahead of the new season.

1st XV Head Coach | Alistair Toal

Alistair Toal continues as Head Coach of Portadown RFC’s 1st XV for a second season, leading the senior squad as the club looks to build further on the foundations established during his first year in charge.

As Head Coach, Alistair has overall responsibility for the direction, preparation and development of the senior rugby programme. From setting training standards and shaping the team’s playing philosophy to tactical preparation and match-day management, he plays a central role in every aspect of the 1st XV setup.

A major focus for Alistair is the continued development of players, both individually and collectively, while creating an environment where high standards, competition and accountability are expected throughout the squad.

Working closely with the wider coaching team, Alistair helps ensure that every area of the game is aligned, giving the squad a clear structure and identity as they continue to progress.

His leadership, commitment and understanding of the game remain hugely important to the development of the senior squad, and we look forward to seeing the team continue to grow under his direction throughout the season ahead.
