I’ve learned more about business from getting things wrong than I ever could have learned from a business book.
I’ve built businesses from scratch, grown teams, made great decisions and made plenty I’d do differently today.
I’ve experienced the highs that make you think “this is exactly why I do this” — and the lows that make you question everything.
One thing I’ve learned is that business owners rarely need another 47 things added to their to-do list.
They need clarity.
Sometimes the answer isn’t another strategy.
It’s stopping, stepping back and being honest about what’s actually happening.
So when I work with business owners, I keep coming back to four questions:
What’s really happening?
What actually matters?
What needs to change?
What needs to stop?
Because running a business can be a lonely place.
There are plenty of people willing to tell you what you should be doing.
What’s much harder to find is someone who understands the reality behind the decision.
Someone who can challenge your thinking.
Someone who can look at the business from outside it.
And occasionally someone willing to say:
“I think you’re looking at this the wrong way.”
That’s the role I want to play.
Not the person with all the answers.
The person who helps you make better decisions.
Because better decisions can change everything.
