Hey there, it's just 34 days now until the Staffin Tri & 10K and we want to thank everyone who has come forward to give us a hand on the day. We'd love a few more volunteers if anyone has a free morning on Saturday 29th August. It'd be much appreciated and make everything run much more smoothly & safely ππ₯°
We're particularly looking for kayakers, motorised boats, volunteer marshals to keep triathletes and runners safe on the roads - and everything else from bag drops, registration, helping with our pop-up shop, setting stuff up & taking stuff down.
Anyone up for that? Just direct message us here & make our day ππ

π³ Every tree tells a story. π³
A huge thanks to you lovely humans who support edour tree planting initiative at this year's Skye Half Marathon & 10K.
This year, 43 native trees will be added to the Skye Events Grove, bringing our total to 297 trees since we planted our first tree in February 2020. π±
We're proud to partner with Trees For Life helping to restore Scotland's native woodlands, create habitats for wildlife, and capture carbon for generations to come. For many of our runners travelling to Skye, planting a tree is also a meaningful way to help offset some of the carbon from their journey.
Thank you to everyone who has chosen to leave a lasting legacy. Together, we're helping our races give something back to the landscape that makes it so special. π
You can donate a tree anytime - just get in touch π³π

π§ ROAD CLOSURE NOTICE β SKYE HALF MARATHON & 10K πββοΈπββοΈ
As we get ready for this year's Skye Half Marathon & 10K on Saturday 13th June, we'd like to give residents and visitors advance notice of the temporary road closures that will be in place to keep everyone safe.
The event brings hundreds of runners and visitors to Skye each year and raises thousands of pounds for local charities, community groups and good causes. β€οΈ
The following roads will be temporarily closed:
β° B8036 β 09:45 to 12:15
β° A850 to A87 β 10:10 to 12:30
β° C1233 from A850 to B885 β 10:10 to 12:50
β° B885 to A87 β 10:10 to 13:20
During these times, the closed roads will only be accessible to exempt vehicles, primarily emergency services responding under blue lights.
We appreciate that road closures can be inconvenient and would encourage everyone to plan ahead where possible. Roads will reopen as soon as it is safe to do so, and we'll be working closely with Police Scotland, traffic management teams and our volunteer marshals to keep disruption to a minimum.
π Please remember that our marshals are volunteers giving up their time to help deliver this fantastic community event. We'd be grateful if all runners, spectators and road users could treat them with patience, courtesy and respect.
The Skye Half Marathon & 10K simply wouldn't happen without the support and understanding of local residents, businesses and the wider community. Thank you for your patience, cooperation and goodwill, and we apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused.
If you have any questions, please get in touch.
Thank you for helping us make this another safe, successful and memorable day for Skye! π
Do please share this post with anyone you think might be affected by these road closures π

β¨ New Year. New Resolutions. One Amazing Community. β¨
As we step into a new year, many of us are thinking about resolutions β not just for ourselves, but for our community too.
Skye Events wouldnβt exist without the incredible people behind the scenes. From marshalling on race day, to helping shape events on our committee, to supporting the future of Skye Events as part of our Board of Trustees β every role plays a part in bringing something special to the island.
π Why get involved?
β’ Youβll be part of a friendly, supportive team that genuinely loves Skye
β’ Youβll help showcase our island to visitors from across Scotland and beyond
β’ Youβll gain new skills, confidence, and experience (no previous experience needed)
β’ Youβll make connections, friendships, and memories that last far beyond race day
β’ And yes β thereβs plenty of tea, cake, laughs, and post-event pride βπ°
Volunteering with Skye Events isnβt just about giving time β itβs about being part of something meaningful, supporting local events, and helping our island thrive.
If your New Yearβs resolution is to:
βοΈ Give back to your community
βοΈ Meet new people
βοΈ Be involved in something positive and rewarding
β¦this could be the perfect place to start.
π© Message us to find out how you can get involved β whether for a day, a season, or the long term.
Hereβs to a new year of community, connection, and Skye pride π
