e Heart of Portsmouth Boxing Academy prides itself on being a place where people of all genders, abilities, age and fitness can attend and have a feeling of achievement and self worth. HOP works closely with the city council, Community Improvement Partnership, Portsmouth Respect Programme and the Motiv8 youth group who all work hard in directing and supporting the youth of Portsmouth. HOP Boxing Academy is in partnership with Charter Academy (formerly St Luke’s School), the new look Charter academy is leading the way in boxing in schools in the country, by putting boxing training onto the academy curriculum, every year group has the option to complete the GB National Boxing Awards and the year 9′s 10′s and 11′s are able to complete the ASDAN CoPE Boxing GCSE Educational Qualification (Grade B GCSE). Charter Academy, working in partnership with the HOP Boxing Academy coaches, is the first school in the country to deliver and qualify their students with the ASDAN CoPE GCSE in Boxing. At HOP Boxing training commences at 7am – 8am for early morning activities (EMA’s), then the Charter students can do boxing training in their PE lesson, GCSE qualification or the after school club.
