We are top!

Table should show 5 wins for us - 6 points for a win, (W) 2 points for each winning rink (WR)

The other results went well for us!

*Combination Team gets a Combination!*

Following on from last week's 12-0 win - the first in a good few seasons, we went into this week's match with excitement as to whether we could repeat the feat and move up from 3rd - image is as the table stood before Wednesday's play.

So, Purbrook Heath came to Cosham and the game begun.

After 4 ends it wasn't going so well - Steve's rink down 4-5, John's rink down 1-5 and only Simon's rink managing to get out in the lead at 4-2.

But things soon started changing, a bit! Steve's rink got it to 6-9 after 8, John's rink got it to 10-5 after 8 and Simon's rink was at 8-7 after 8.

Let's see how Steve's team went on from here - well they took 3, 4, 2, 4, 2, 1, lost 1, then won 2 and 1 before losing 3 on the last end to win 25-13 - impressive play from Mel, Pete, Gerry and Steve.

John's team continued to keep their lead - from 10-5 to 14-9 after 12, but eventually keeping it all tight to win 18-12 - well done Pete, Glenn, Ron and John

Could Simon's rink win their match and gain another 12 points, or not lose by 18 or more to at least get the win! From 8-7, Cosham won a 5, but then lost a 3, 2 & 1 - to tie at 13 each. Then Cosham won another 2 and 3 to regain their 5 point advantage with 4 ends to go. These were shared in single point ends for a win of 20-15. Well done Jeff, Carl, Brian & Simon

Unbelievable they only went and did it - another 12-0 win...

Before this match, Cosham were 8 points behind Gosport (the league leaders) and 3 points behind Priory Silver.
Leigh Park beat Gosport 10-2, so we our 12 moves us 2 points ahead of Gosport. How did Priory do? Did they get 10 points or more? Or are Cosham top... the table will be updated soon....

A match to remember by the combination team.

Cosham Park Combination Team have had a mixed season so far - but knew a win against second place Leigh Park would put them right in the mix at top of the table.

Rink 5

Led by Skip John, Cosham had a storming start up 10-0 after just 4 ends. Leigh Park got it back to 12-5 - but enough of that thought Cosham - 3,3,1,2,1,2 - and the score is 24-5. Eventually it ended 28-7 - well done Glenn, Carl, Ron and John. 2 points secured!

Rink 4

Steve and his rink looked at what John's boys were doing and thought we will do the same - and they did! 10-0 up after 4, 17-6 after 10 and continued to score end after end to run away and win 29-8, also a gain of 21 points and another 2 league points - well done Mel, Pete, Gerry, & Steve

Rink 3

The rink was still playing after the others had finished and was skipped by Simon. In contrast to the other two rinks we set off badly and were down 5-0 after 3, then Cosham scored a couple of 3’s on ends 4 & 6 to bring the scores level at 6-6. Ends 7 to 10 went with the home team and we weren't in good shape 15-6 down. But we never gave up and won the next 6 ends to head 16-15 with just two ends to go.

A single on end 17 by Leigh Park brought the game level, and then put a wood right next to the jack. Best shot of the night came from Brian Charman to just knock that wood a few inches on and settle right next to the jack himself!
This could not be dislodged and Cosham won 17-16.. Well scraped Jeff, Terry, Brian and Simon

Over all Cosham won 74-31 and took all 12 points.

A night and match to remember for sure. Our biggest win and first 12-0 of the season.
