Longsands Girls JFC U13

The girls travelled to the Fulledge Colts YFC Tournament today. What a fantastic day enjoyed by all. The girls played sublime football, going undefeated in the group stage and progressing to the champions league cup semi final.

They put in a fine performance, winning the semifinal. The team were unbelievable in the final, with Rio being named player of the match. What a great achievement all round.

The team were amazing winning the whole tournament! Champions League winners 🏆

Overall, they scored 19 goals and conceded 0, fantastic team performance.

Congratulations 🙌. We did it!! The girls and parents completed the Preston Guild wheel to raise additional funds for the team by cycling 21 miles.

Thank you for all your support. We all had a great time. The girls smashed it and what a great way to strengthen the team spirit. They really are an exceptional group of girls and parents. 💛🚴🏻‍♂️⚽️💙

Longsands Girls JFC U13 travelled to Morecambe for a repeat of last weeks cup final also knowing a win would create a three way tie at the top of the league. Typically the school half term and injuries meant a smaller match day squad during a heatwave. ☀️ 🥵

Fantastic performance and a great way to end the season, unfortunately we conceded towards the end of the game with less than 5 minutes left to play.

We started the game strongly stopping the home team from playing and moving the ball with purpose. A combination of excellent defending for Lilah, Aiyanna, Beths and Hannah and some good saves from Martha kept the game all square at half time.

Second half started in a similar fashion, with strong defending. The solid defensive display meant we started to create a few forward opportunities ourselves. However Martha pulled off a fantastic diving save to keep the score level. With the minutes counting down and a well deserved draw in our sights we went and conceded from a corner. It finished 1-0 to the league champions.

🏆 Coaches player of the match, we proudly gave to the team for being superb.💪

After the game we visited McDonald's Deepdale for well deserved refuelling and team get together. As always the support from the McDonald’s team was exceptional. We took this opportunity to crown our McDonald’s April and May players of the month.

🏆 Aprils player of the month is Maja who put in some consistent and brilliant performances over the last few months.

🏆 Mays player of the month is Lilah who has really found her form over the last few months with sold defensive displays.

Another impressive season comes to an end. 💛⚽️💙

Longsands Girls JFC U13 got the opportunity to play at Fleetwoods Highbury Stadium in the Coulton Cup final. A good performance, but unfortunately it was not our day and congratulations to Morecambe.

Lots of positives and plenty to be proud of. We showed our togetherness and ability to play good football. We kept our shape and discipline, stopping Morecambe from any chances. Maja worked hard down the right hand side defending and attacking. Rio created some half chances and Fearne was unlucky with a long range effort. The deadlock was broken late into the first half from a corner, before Morecambe scored again from a penalty.

Second half was again evenly balanced with neither team creating too many chances. Sienna played a number of purposeful balls forward, but we couldn’t get the rub of the green. The defence regardless of the combination: Hannah, Lilah, Aiyanna, Beth and Emelia continued to be solid at the back. However, as the game went on Morecambe were again clinical adding to their total.

🏆 Caches player of the match was our Goalkeeper Martha, who swept up every long ball, kicked effectively and helped us stay in the game.

Everyone is extremely proud of the girls achievement and effort today and throughout the season. A real privilege to be a part of this team.

Longsands Girls JFC U13 welcomed Burscough Ladies today. A fantastic performance today, demonstrating how far we have developed as a team.

First half started in expected fashion, with Burscough passing and moving putting us under pressure. We weathered the early storm and never looked back. Our defence grew in confidence and our passing became more purposeful. A well worked move was fished by Heidi after an assist from Rio to break the deadlock ⚽️. Jess added a second reacting quickly to a Lou assist, after only being on the pitch for 1 minute ⚽️. The girls continued playing with confidence, knocking the ball around before Beth played a nice pass to Rio to score our 3rd just before half time ⚽️. Excellent saves from the Burscough keeper in the first half stopped us increasing our lead.

Second half saw us continue our momentum with another strike from Rio after a defence splitting ball by Rubys ⚽️. As we started to a relax, Burscough applied more pressure and were rewarded with 2 goals.

🏆 Coaches player of the match went to the hard working Ruby, who took control of midfield and was unlucky to not grab a goal.

Longsands Girls JFC U13 traveled the short distance to play Cadley in a local derby. A good battling game of football in warm conditions with Longsands being clinical from set pieces.

First half started very evenly with both teams battling hard in the middle of the pitch. Both teams matched each other until we finally broke the deadlock from a thunderous shot from 25-yards by Rio ⚽️. We continued to create chances, with the second goal coning from a fierce corner, with the ball whipped into the box by Ruby, where Rio glanced a header past the keeper. ⚽️

Second half saw us continue our momentum, dominating possession and creating more chances. Again, we scored from corners with superb set piece play and ruthless finishing. Rio and Ruby adding to the goal tally to help us finish with 5-goals. ⚽️⚽️

The defensive line am GK was solid and got the clean sheet they deserved.
