One of our own, Dave will be deeply missed by the club and our thoughts go out to his family RIP Dave!

SHORROCK
DAVID

Died on 5th May at Lancaster Hospital, aged 80 years.

David Shorrock, born 16th February 1943 at Cross house farm, Garstang. One of 4 brothers.
Moving, as a young boy to Lower House farm, Bilsborrow. Schooling at Bilsborrow and Lancaster Grammar. Having then worked alongside his brothers he eventually farmed in partnership with his father John. Their established small herd of pedigree freisans succeeded, under the "shorries" prefix, earning several production awards, together with many rosettes at local shows.

During the mid seventies he began working for Herdwise. This set him up for a lifetime of work in the world of cattle genetics, a job he absolutely loved from the very start up to his later years working along side his great friends at Alta, Garstang.

Dave was a competitive sportsman, playing football as a young man, then moving onto badminton, playing at a competitive level until into his 60's. Bowling was his last sporting passion. Playing a big part as captain and organizer of his local clubs. He was a big Man city fan, travelling to many a home game and he loved to watch any game of cricket or football on TV. Dave was also a keen bird watcher.

Dearly loved dad of Mark and Karen, dear father-in-law of Sarah and Chris, great grandad pal of Josh and Oli, brother to John, Richard and Bill (Deceased) and the long term friend of Joan.

Dave lived in Garstang for the last 38 years, recently having moved to a new 3rd floor apartment overlooking the River Wyre, Garstang golf club and views across the fields towards Cross house were he was born.

A service of thanksgiving for Dave's life will take place at St. Hilda's Church, Bilsborrow on Thursday 15th June at 12.00noon.

Family flowers only please, donations if so desired to 'Bay Hospitals Charity' (these will be forwarded to the I.C.U at Royal Lancaster Hospital).
