Mill Hill Judo Club started at Simmons Street in 1956 by Tommy Hudson, Dave Dewhurst & John Atkinson, who's passion has always been to train young children and adults in Judo.

It moved to Mill Hill Community Centre where Sensei Jimmy McGilick came on board and took the kids classes, due to having so many students. We needed more space, and so we moved as the building was being knocked down and rebuilt.
We resided at the Blind Centre on Chapel St for a few years whilst it was being rebuilt.

As many years went by, more Martial Arts were being introduced and so students stopped coming to train, until we were offered to move to Blackburn Martial Arts Club at Lower Darwen, with Sensei Ray Parker & Shilan Simon Jones, who have both been involved in Martial Arts for over 40 years also.

We are still located here today. Thanks to the support of Sensei Ray Parker, Shilan Simon Jones, Sensei Bill Chew, Sensei Jimmy McGilick, Sensei Dave Holden, Daniel Butterworth, Jon Halfpenny, Sensei Owen McGill, and his Daughter Sharon Washington, who trains with Tommy a few nights a week.

Tommy Hudson is now 85 years old and STILL teaching. His Daughter Sharon, has converted his garage into a small Dojo, in which they both train together a few nights per week.
If anybody remembers Tommy or any of the old photo's that are on this page, PLEASE GET IN TOUCH, as Tommy would to reminisce and see what his 1000's of students he has taught over the years, are upto.

Tommy also teaches self defence and Tai Chi to anyone who wants to learn, so please get in touch.

Anyone is welcome down to Blackburn Martial Arts on a THURSDAY Evening to see Sensei Bill Chew, Sensei Dave Holden & Danny Butterworth, if you wish to see Tommy, please get in touch, and we can arrange a time when he is free at the Dojo.

Tommy is very keen to get in touch with the following people...

Alan Pye, John Atkinson, Andrea Stefton, Christine, Sonia, Alison & Michael Butterworth.

PLEASE help SHARE this page, and get Tommy in touch with these people mentioned.
