Different game to the cup final last Wednesday. AFC needed only a Draw or Win to guarantee league title success for the 3rd consecutive season. F&B had to win!
After Wednesday's cup final humiliation, F&B came with one plan, sit deep, put bodies behind the ball, defend for their lives and try to nick a goal on the counter. And to be fair to them, they executed their plan very well and it almost paid off ππ½
AFC Preston dominated large spells of the game but we're not ruthless enough in the attacking 3rd. Chance after chance came and went. On another day, with more clinical finishing the game is finished long before the final 10 minutes.
Then football does what football does.
85th minute.
F&B break forward on the counter for the first real time all game⦠and spenny Lucas scores with their only real attempt of the match.
For a moment, it felt like the league title was slipping away.
But this team doesnβt know how to quit.
Heads never dropped. Nobody pointed fingers. Nobody panicked. The lads kept pushing, wave after wave, attack after attack, forcing F&B deeper and deeper into their own half.
Then came the moment.
90th minute.
Yasin drives into the box and gets brought down. Penalty AFC Preston.
Silence. Pressure. Chaos. A fairly boring game had sprung to life in the final 10 minutes..
Saad who was targeted all our previous games, steps up with absolute ice in his veins. Balls of steel. Sends the keeper the wrong way and buries it bottom left. 1-1. Pure scenes. Pure jubilation from our fans ππ½π₯
Final score 1-1.
What this meansβ¦
F&B have now completed all of their fixtures. AFC Preston still has one final game in hand against Ribbleton. Both teams currently sit level on points, but AFC remain top on goal difference with +17. Unless we lose by a 17 goal difference in our final match, we will be crowned champions again for a 3rd successive season. What a rollercoaster of emotions, proud of everyone involved with this club ππ₯
A huge thank you to all of you who came to support. We appreciate you π₯πͺπ½

Cup Final Winners π
Final score
AFC Preston 5-1 Fulwood & Broughton.
What a night under the Sir Tom Finney lights. A proper team performance from start to finish ππ½
Adnaan opened the scoring with a crisp finish on the turn to make it 1-0. Shortly after, Aamir T rolled back the years, driving through the heart of the F&B defence before unselfishly squaring it to our star boy Yasin, who finished clinically to make it 2-0.
F&B pulled one back to make it 2-1, but AFC Preston stayed in control and never lost focus.
Second half it was one-way traffic. Saad calmly converted from the spot to make it a deserved 3-1, before Reece produced a cheeky lob to make it 4. Owen strikaaa then grabbed the 5th of the night with a poacherβs finish to seal an outstanding 5-1 victory.
The scoreline could have been even bigger on another night with chances continuing to come throughout the second half. Every single player was outstanding π₯
Massive shoutout to Adnaan, whose tireless and menacing performance earned him Man of the Match ππ½
From the starting XI, to the management team, to every lad on the bench, togetherness, commitment and hard work for each other was there for everyone to see. Individual brilliance shone through, but the collective was different class." π ππ½

A scintillating team performance in the semi final of the league cup, as the lads ran riot to beat LFA cup winners Irongate 5-1 in a one sided affair. The lads dominated from the first minute, taking the lead from a clinical finish from Sek. Saad scored the second with a trademark majestic free kick, the third.. MoM Alex Chu with a bullet finish. Reece and Yasin added to the tally and we're unlucky not to score more. Some lovely football being played from both sides at times, in perfect conditions. Respect to our opponents who did not give up despite having injuries and players missing π€
MoM. Too many notable performances, every single player won their individual battle and can be proud. Alex Chu π₯ Wow, unplayable at times... pulled the strings all game. Shout out to Adnaan who set the standard with his relentless pressing πͺπ½
5 different scores from 5 different countries, Sek (Mali), Saad (Morocco), Alex (Nigeria), Reece (England) and Yasin (Afghanistan) all finished their chances in clinical fashion π€.
Thank you to all who came to support. The final will be played at Bamber bridge fc on May 6, Wednesday evening. We appreciate you all on and off the pitch ππ½
Next Sunday the lads face F&B away in the league, where a win would seal a 3rd consecutive league title π₯. Details to follow shortly.

Back in league action for the first time since early December and it showed early on. A slow start from us against a hardworking, well organised Wyrsedale Rangers side who set the tone with their commitment and intensity.
The breakthrough came when Robbie Morris powered home a thumping header into the top corner. From there, the lads grew into the game and took control, with Aamir T adding two of his trademark clinical finishes to make it 3-0.
Our Moroccan wizard Saad missed a penalty with a cheeky Panenka, which the keeper easily collected, shades of Brahim DΓaz in the AFCON final, before Sekouba wrapped things up in style, whipping a beautiful free-kick past the keeper for our fourth.
Full credit to Wyrsedale Rangers, who never stopped working and deserved their consolation goal for the effort and fight they showed throughout.
Man of the Match: Mac 10 π₯π₯
