U11 GIRLS ONE STEP CLOSER TO UNBEATEN SEASON!
Tues 9th June - Girls v New Longton.
The girls unbeaten season rolled on with another win versus New Longton. Having won the toss and chosen to bat, Walton le dale racked up 92-5 with good contributions and running between the wickets from joint top scorers Aurelia, Eliza P and POTM ๐Jessica with her highest ever score.
The extra count was far lower from the WLD bowlers which kept the score down and rewards came from Erin with 2 wickets in consecutive balls, 1 for Chloe, 1 for Aurelia and a runout to leave New Longton on 63-5, adrift of the WLD score by 29 runs. One game left for an invincible season ๐ค

IMPROVED FIELDING, BUT BATTING DOESNโT FIRE V KIRKHAM
Weds 10th June - U13s v Kirkham.
Bowling and fielding was much improved from the last game as Walton le Dale came back into the game well following the excellent early batters retirements for Kirkham. in a game where wickets came in clusters (5 first ballers between both sides), Jim and jimmy both picked up 2 in 2 balls, with two wickets also for the express pace of Dev and 1 a piece for James and Ethan. Ground fielding was vastly improved and they can be happy with their efforts as Kirkham's innings finished on 93-8.
That total needed a couple of big contributions which unfortunately didn't come, with Dev and Ethan both departing after well struck boundaries. Despite good resilience from Eli and Niamh, Walton le dale finished 44 runs adrift, bowled out well within their overs, bamboozled by some good wrist spin from Kirkham. POTM went to Dev for contributions with bat and ball. Onto the next game on Monday!

GIRLS UNBEATEN RUN CONTINUES WITH WIN AT FYLDE!
Sun 7th June 2026 - U11 Girls Softball v Fylde.
The girls softball team's fine run continued with another win away at Fylde. A decent total was posted by WLD batting first, with Eleanor on 10* and Chloe on 8* supported by contributions throughout the order.
However, whilst runs off the bat were fairly even, it was the more accurate bowling of Walton le Dale which make the difference, keeping the extra count down to gain the win by 11 runs. Amongst two maidens for the superb Eleanor, 2 wickets went to Eliza C, 1 to Aurelia and 1 to Poppy who, fresh off a hattrick in midweek, scooped POTM ๐ for some good shots, stops in the field and ever reliable bowling.
Well done girls ๐๐

GREAT BOWLING BY WALTON LE DALE ๏ฟผ TO WIN IN LAST OVER NAILBITER!
Sat 6th June - U10 Softball Royals v Brinscall.
๏ฟผBatting first on a slightly low track thanks to a pre match shower, Walton le dale posted 59 thanks to some late boundaries from Arya.
At halfway it looked like that total may be a little light, but an excellent all round bowling display brought Walton le Dale back into the match. Wickets for Chloe, Franklin, Varun and Olly along with economical bowling from Vishal and Robert meant Arya had 8 to defend in the last over.
Every ball was quick and on the money, meaning a last ball run out took WLD to a net 10 run win.
POTM went to Varun for a wicket and great bowling display on debut with his twin brother. well done team! ๐๐

HATTRICK HEROES AND BIG HITTING KEEPS GIRLS UNBEATEN!
Weds 3rd June - U11 Girls v Euxton.
Full credit to Euxton for getting the game on, which somehow swerved all the rain in the surrounding areas (at least until team photo time). With clean striking from player of the match Chloe with 25 runs, Walton le dale posted a good 90-5.
After starting well, with a steady flow of wickets picked up by April, Eliza P and two for chloe, Euxton came back into the game with some good running and gifted overthrows. With the game in the balance, Poppy came on to bowl for a magic over! A hattrick - all bowled, what a phenomenal achievement! ๐
That helped secure the win as Euxton closed on 75-7 and a net win for Walton le Dale by 25 runs to keep their unbeaten run going this season!

IMPROVED BATTING NOT ENOUGH FOR THE U13s v PRESTON
Sun 31st May - U13s v Preston.
Bowling first, Preston got away from Walton le Dale with clean striking and too many fielding errors to post an imposing 147 with wickets shared between 5 bowlers.
Batting was the highest total so far from the u13s, with 74 racked up thanks to POTM Ethan with 17, Dev with a quickfire 16, dylan an excellent 12 not out and a composed 7 from James before being bowled.
We finished well short but there were pieces of improvement that will hopefully come together in the same game next time. It's a young side, with 8 of the team playing up in an older age group and even an u9 (Arya) playing today and looking comfortable, so plenty of time for the consistency to arrive
