Hi Folks,
It's been a while since we last updated. We just wanted to let you know that Preston Jiu Jitsu is still alive and well, and we're definitely looking forward to hitting the mats as soon as possible.
With places opening up on Monday, things are definitely looking up, and we have been making plans based on the easing of restrictions planned for the 21st June.
However, we are also aware of the situation regarding new variants in the UK which could impact on our return to training. As always, we'll be monitoring the situation during the coming weeks, and we'll keep everyone updated on any developments.
We can't wait to be back in the dojo, to welcome back friends new and old - so watch this space!
Online training is still available! If you're interested drop us a 📩 for more info 🥋🔥

📣2021 TRAINING UPDATE📣
Hi folks,
It's been a while, so we wanted to give you a quick training update!
As we're sure you are all aware, rapid changes in the spread of COVID-19 and the new tier system means that unfortunately, we will NOT be returning to on-mat training in January/February.
As always, we will continue to follow the advice and guidelines provided by the UK government, The Jiu Jitsu Foundation, and relevant sporting bodies for the rest of Q1 and beyond. We want to assure you that the safety of our students and instructors will always be at the core of our decision making process.
We will continue to keep you updated - when we're allowed back on the mat, we probably won't stop posting about it.
🔥💻ZOOM TRAINING SESSIONS 💻🔥
Despite it all, Covid-19 never stopped us from training. Our incredible instructors have continued to run online training sessions to help students stay fit, active and jitsu-ready 💥

MEET THE COMMITTEE 🥋
Name: Graeme
Role: Treasurer
Alright folks, meet Graeme (AKA G)
"I started Ju Jitsu when I was a university fresher at UCLAN. I wanted something to do that gave me the opportunity to keep fit, make friends and learn something useful at the same time.
I love it so much that I am still here many years since I graduated training with the same club. No matter how tired or fed up I am before the session I always come off the mat two hours later feeling buzzed.
My role as treasurer is to look after the club's finances by collecting fees and authorising payments essential to the running of the club."

MEET THE COMMITTEE 🥋
Name: Dax
Role: Chair of Preston Jiu Jitsu (Town Club) and 6th Kyu
Dax started Shorinji Kan Jiu Jitsu at Preston Town Club in 2010 when he went back to University.
Dax has been on the committee for a few years and helps organise various events, social activities and helps with the administration side of the club. He’s a club first aider, mental health first aider and also represents the Preston and UCLan clubs at Preston Sports Forum.
As well as enjoying Jiu Jitsu he is a cyclist, appreciates beer and whiskey and volunteers doing all sorts – amateur historian, wildlife rescue/rehabilitation and for various emergency services charities.
Dax enjoys Jiu Jitsu as it’s good exercise and swears it is great for one’s personal discipline and wellbeing.
“The hardest part of Jiu Jitsu is getting your foot in the door. Once you’ve taken your first step, you’ll wonder why you ever hesitated. Exercise, educate yourself, enjoy.”

MEET THE INSTRUCTORS
::ASSISTANT INSTRUCTOR - PRESTON/ UCLAN JIU JITSU::
SENSEI KYLE SHAW - 1ST KYU
Kyle started Jiu Jitsu as a junior when he was just nine years old, and since then he's had one goal; get the top of the mat.
And boy did he do it in style. Kyle excelled and quickly rose through the ranks to achieve his Brown Belt (1st Kyu) while he was still a junior.
After taking a break to focus on his health and studies, Kyle returned to Jiu Jitsu with a passion. As a student at the University of Central Lancashire and a Lancashire native, he is actively involved in both Preston Town and UCLAN Jiu Jitsu.
Kyle says that Jitsu helped provide a positive outlet for him when he was a junior, and credits his uncle with introducing him to principles that are at the heart of the martial arts.
'A question all instructors get asked is ‘why Jiu-Jitsu?’ For me it was because my uncle. He saw that I was extremely frustrated with football and other sports and he simply said “right you’re coming with me on Saturday to Jiu-Jitsu". I've been here ever since, and I've never looked back.'
