🥥Dietary considerations for PCOS 🍎
PCOS is something that a lot of women suffer from and struggle to manage.
There are a number of things that can be done within the realm of exercise and nutrition to improve PCOS, with things to consider depending on the individual persons goals.
Generally speaking, here are a few dietary tips that could help you if you suffer from PCOS.
1️⃣ Opt for a lower carbohydrate diet. This does NOT mean keto, it means a lower carbohydrate focus with slightly higher fats and moderate protein.
2️⃣ Those who suffer from PCOS typically have poor insulin sensitivity. In other words, they don’t respond to dietary carbs well in the terms of their cells might not absorb glucose as much which might lead to excessively high blood sugar levels.
3️⃣ Therefore controlling carb intake timing will be more favourable to manage excessive blood sugar. Initially, start with consuming carbs post workout.
4️⃣ You will likely be more insulin sensitive after your workout, which means that your body will utilise the carbs better and will be less likely to store them as fat.
5️⃣ The types of carbohydrates matter. You want to be consuming whole, unprocessed carbohydrates that are typically Low GI. Think along the lines of oats, pulses, green veg, colourful veg and fruits such as berries that are higher in antioxidants.
🤔 Other things to consider…
There are other things to consider to help manage PCOS.
These include:
- Type of training / workout that you do
- Managing stress
- Managing sleep
- Managing carbohydrate and calorie intake if your goal is fat loss
- Managing inflammation
- Avoid High GI carbs, processed, sugary foods.

If your goal is to lose excess body fat, then prioritise you diet. 🥗🌯
Focus on creating a balanced diet that you can sustain long term and is healthy.
Nutrition is the key to health, crash dieting will just make way for a dramatic weight regain and also make the rate in which you lose fat on your next fat loss attempt, slower. 🤷♂️

Losing weight really doesn’t need to be over complicated.
😎 It is a complicated subject, but the programmes that you follow, the advice that you read and listen to don’t need to be complex at all.
If you’ve followed me for a while, you’ll know that I say things straight. There isn’t any bu****it, I’m not going to throw a load of technical jargon at you that makes you think that you need a medical degree to understand the fundamentals of energy balance. 🥼
Similarly with nutrition.
If you search for “the best diet for *insert goal here*) you will be inundated with hundreds of articles spouting 90% rubbish.
Despite their rubbish, the bottom line all health & fat loss diets agree on is this.
✅ Eat whole foods
✅ If your goals fat loss, be in a calorie deficit
✅ Prioritise protein
Now the amounts you may need vary and the advice from differing sources will be obviously different.
And for this reason, I’ve created my brand new 60 Days programme aimed at helping busy parents who are circa 21-35ish lose 10-14lbs in 60 days. Guaranteed. The best part is that the programme is super simple, easy to follow and isn’t restrictive.
