EUSTRESS - what it is and why you need it.
Stress in general gets a really bad wrap these days. Everyone's trying to manage it or avoid it.
After all it is linked with many physical ailments such as heart disease, cancer, dementia, and many many more..
But hold on exercise is also a stress on the body, so are exams, job interviews, starting a business, you get the idea.
So back to EUSTRESS. EU as in Euphoria. EUSTRESS is the the kind of stress which has the potential to lead to a release of neurotransmitters such as dopamine, serotonin, Endorphins and norepinephrine (adrenaline).
Basically a stress that can lead to an elated feeling, sense of achievement, feeling of progression..
Even more simply it is stress which leads to growth. This stress unlike its counterpart DISTRESS actually has been shown to improve your health and lower all cause mortality..
So you see there is a big difference in been in EUSTRESS and DISTRESS.
Yet another beautiful thing about EUSTRESS. As it builds the bodys tolerance for stress it allows you to cope with more in a healthy manor.
Whereas DISTRESS lowers your ability to handle more stress. This can lead to people getting to the point where they cannot handle any stress at all. A DANGEROUS position.
So my point!!!
Make sure you're not avoiding EUSTRESS in your attempts to avoid stress. There is no avoiding stress completely in this life so make sure you use EUSTRESS to build yourself up so you're ready when it comes.

Its the scariest thing. S**t it scares us so much we sometimes don't even consciously acknowledge we're suppressing it.
We suppress and limit our expression because we automatically factor in how others might recieve it and more importantly how they might perceive us as a result.
But you only have to look at some of people who inspire others to see that its because they have the courage to be authentic no matter what the outcome.
Its this natural energy and courage that sparks something in us. It reminds us that we all have greatness in us hidden underneath the scripted veneer.
Well here's the signal you needed let that s**t go. F**k the fear, the insecurities, the doubt and not just yours, but everyone else's too.
Just be authentic 😉

SELF SABOTAGE - Can you recognise when you're doing it?
You have been here before, you are filled with doubt, you have tried so many times now and every time you get so far only to eventually fall from your chosen path. You don't even know why, because when you're on it you feel fantastic, driven, powerful and in control. However stopping and starting you go through this cycle never really maintaining anything you achieve in the short term.
You get to the point of Just giving up because you know you're going to do the same thing again. You even convince yourself you don't need that thing anymore, that change in your life, in you. It's not that important you say I'm happy. You put other things first convincing yourself these are more important because it keeps you from having to face the difficult task of achieving what you want.
But the reality is that deep down you know you'll never really be truly happy without this change. You won't feel comfortable in your own skin, you won't be yourself, the person you know is in there waiting to get out.
It all starts with the decision, but after that is when the real test begins, because deciding is not enough. In order to follow through on your decision, you must accept that this one task, this one goal is the most important thing in your life right now. Otherwise anything and everything will become an obstacle. However when you make this one task the most important pursuit in your life you will move mountains to make it happen, then and only then will you achieve it.
To quote Eric Thomas "when you want to be successful as bad as you want to breathe, then you will be successful"
What it is that you want to achieve, well that's your choice.

Some clips of training in the last few months.
Mix of Olympic weightlifting and strongman.
I have to say getting back to training in a gym has been great for me.
Training has always been hugely beneficial in regards to how I feel.
The discipline and sense of achievement I feel has a great effect on self esteem.
It was yesterday and I was curious to see how much physical training can effect others mental health?
